Scholastic Human Resource Manager in St. Charles, Illinois

Job Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY

The HR Generalist oversees HR responsibilities and activities for Education Solutions’ inside sales, field sales and sales support at Scholastic Inc. The role requires being in the St. Charles, Illinois (Hoffman Estates) office four (4) days a week. The HR Generalist provides strategic and operational support to employees at various levels of the sales organization. In addition to promoting positive employee relations through communication and interpretation of human resources policies and programs, the HR Generalist maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations. Responsibilities include:

RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruiting:

  • Identify, recruit, screen, and present competitive candidates for business openings, collaborating with hiring managers .

  • Integral partner in managing all recruiting activities and providing candidates with experience throughout the recruiting process.

Employee Relations and Complaince:

  • Conducts investigations to review and ensure legal compliance and adherence to human resource policies includeing federal and state requirements and records maintance.

  • Hear and resolve employee relations issues; and provide counseling to employees and managers.

  • Conducts and analyzes exit interviews and other mertics, to review trends and implement change as needed

  • Maintain organization and employee updates to ensure reporting structures/job titles/cost centers are correct and current by informing data processors.

Performance Managemment

  • Plan, monitor, and guide employee performance appraisel by partnering with managers to coach and discipline employees for optimal employee performance

  • Partner with the client group in cultivating a supportive and inclusive work environment for all employees. This will include implementing corporate initiatives and practices that support our efforts to cultivate a diverse and inclusive organizational culture.

  • Advisor to St. Charles Leadership and providing key counsel to drive a positive employee culture

Benefits and Compensation Adminstration

  • Partner with Health and Welfare Benefits on benefits enrollment and employee queries including our leave and wellness policies.

  • Ensure that employees are aligned with compensation practice and guidelines

Payroll and Time Reporting

  • Manage an HR/Payroll Coodinator who assists with leave administration, recruiting, time reporting to payroll for processing and other tasks as needed

Qualifications

HOW YOU CAN FIT (Qualifications)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Background supporting sales perferred

Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to be clear, empathic and direct with various stakeholders.

Proficent in Excel and Microsoft Suite knowledge.

Workday HR System and Recruitng knowledge preferred

UKG Time reporting preferred

Experience: 8 Years experience supporting a site

Education: Bachelor’s degree is required.

SHRM certification or Masters in HR related field is a plus
