McDermott Principal Coordination Spec in Squamish, British Columbia
Job Overview:
The Principal Coordination Specialist is responsible for interpreting internal or external business issues and recommending best practices. They will be tasked with solving complex coordination-related problems and will work independently with minimal guidance. The Principal Coordination Specialist may be responsible for leading functional teams or projects and is regarded as a specialist in the field of coordination. As such, they must have in-depth expertise in coordination as well as broad knowledge of the coordination discipline within the Onshore Construction function.
Salary Range: 110,000 - 120,000 CAD
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Manage and direct the development of the field Construction Work Packages ahead of Construction
Responsible for the implementation in the areas/disciplines assigned via continuous collaboration and analysis of field execution, providing all necessary information to provide the area manager with the tools to make informed decisions, and training/guiding field supervision in the process
Develop, produce, and issue the six (3) week look-ahead (3WLA) schedules every week to facilitate front-line execution
Produce the construction weekly work plan (WWP), generated from the 3WLA, as well as subsequent status reports at the end of each reporting week
Monitor site construction to ensure compliance with WWPs
Interface with the Construction Supervisor, Project Controls, and subcontractors to facilitate updates to the 3 WLA and WWP
Monitor and facilitate subcontractor compliance with the Subcontractor Execution Plans and detailed Weekly Work Plans
Essential Qualifications and Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or a related field.
7-10 years of experience in construction with an emphasis on Construction Planning
Moderate knowledge of MDR construction planning procedures, progress systems, material management systems, document management, and timekeeping systems
Intermediate knowledge of MDR construction planning procedures, progress systems, material management systems, document management, and timekeeping systems
Recording and communicating Lessons Learned captured on IWPs
Advanced MS Office skills, specifically with Excel and Access
Experience with WorkFace Planning
Acts as a technical specialist within their area
Is a team leader; does not formally supervise
Has developed depth and breadth of knowledge/skills in own area
Applies knowledge/skills to complex problems, coordinates work beyond own area of expertise
Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions
Acts as a facilitator to resolve conflicts within a team
Excellent attention to detail and proven ability to meet deadlines, troubleshoot, and resolve issues
