DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

Join a multidisciplinary team to provide specialized care to our patients. We use a problem-oriented approach tailored to the needs of the individual. Our team consists of behavioral health clinicians, unit counselors, a psychiatrist, a physician assistant, psychiatric nurses, psychiatric social workers and master's prepared specialists, behavioral support members, occupational and recreational therapists.

INTEGRATED BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CLINICIANS PERFORM AN IMPORTANT ROLE in our specialized behavioral health program that works as a member of the advanced primary care team(s) within BMP ambulatory sites. The role of the IBH Clinician is to ensure that behavioral health needs of the patients under the responsibility of the BMP practice are met. Behavioral health needs in this context include but are not limited to specific behavioral health symptoms and suspected psychiatric illness; they also include behavioral and emotional factors influencing physical health. The IBHC helps the care team to identify these needs by assisting in the administration of behavioral health screening instruments, helping in the interpretation of these screens, and providing brief clinical assessments of patients.

Summary:

Treatment will also often involve collaboration with outside agencies (e.g., public and private schools, wraparound services, community-based behavioral health agencies and programs, community primary care providers, or representatives of state agencies such as DMH or DCF).

Represents and supports Baystate Health’s mission to provide quality, compassionate care to members of our community while operating in collaboration with other clinical departments, emphasizing the important interaction between behavioral health, general health, and wellness.
