TALIESIN PRESERVATION INC Director of Finance in SPRING GREEN, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Director of Finance effectively manages all financial tasks and contributes to the overall success of the organization by leading the overall finance strategy to maximize and strengthen organizational capacity in support of the mission. Develop and utilize predictive models and financial analysis to inform the organization\'s operations and business plans; Manage cash, investments, and assets, including oversight of Information Technology consultants; Responsible for financial strategies and activities, including managing banking, investments, insurance, and vendor relationships; With Human Resources and the Executive Director, review and maintain health benefits, insurance policies, and benefits for the organization and its employees; Undertake tax planning and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll, licenses, and permits as applicable; Incorporate variance report information into ongoing financial forecasts and cash flow projections; Establish guidelines for budget and forecast preparation and collaborate with the Executive Director and department directors and managers to prepare the annual draft budget; Work with the Executive Director and the Board Finance Committee to finalize and approve the annual operating budget; Work as part of a team to address long-term financial challenges facing the organization and develop priorities and policies that will enhance the financial health of the organization; Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions; Oversee all payroll functions to ensure that employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner; Issue annual tax documents to employees and independent contractors; Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and credit control; Reconcile bank and investment accounts; Oversee the bookkeeping function, including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll; Manage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded, amortized/depreciated, and disposed of as appropriate; Participate in Finance Committee, Executive Committee, and Board meetings; Collaborates with department directors as Senior Leadership to analyze organizational and departmental financial performance and recommends actions to enhance performance; Provide supervision to Finance department staff by providing direction, input, and feedback; Contribute to strategic planning and ensure effective use of financial resources; Ensure that financial and IT activities operate within Taliesin Preservation policies and procedures; Ensure that financial activities comply with all relevant legislation and professional standards; Ensure all statutory requirements of the organization are met, including non-profit status; In collaboration with Human Resources and Executive Director, develop, enhance, implement, and enforce administrative and financial management; Monitor risk management policies and procedures to ensure that organizational risks are minimized; Quarterly, prepare, review, and distribute reports that outline the organization\'s financial position in the areas of revenue, expenses, and projects; Analyze operating results against budget and prepare quarterly variance reports; Manage the annual audit process with internal staff and auditors and the annual preparation of Form 990 with the external auditors; Ensure compliance with applicable tax laws, prepare state and local tax returns and other needed filings, maintain all licenses and permits; In collaboration with Human Resources, oversee compliance with organizational insurance policies; Other duties as assi ned; ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Business Management/Administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles; Demonstrated knowledge of relevant federal and state legislation and employment standards; Computer proficiency at an advanced level, including word processing, database management, spreadsheet creation and management, payroll and accounting software, and report production; Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with peers and staff and professionally interact with a diverse range of constituents, including staff, volunteers, Board members, and donors; Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain confidentiality; Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize projects and tasks; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Preferred Qualifications: Chartered accountant, Certified General Accountant, or Certified Management Accountant designation; Previous supervisory experience;
