The Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of high complexity laboratory test results with minimal supervision to aid physician in patient diagnosis and treatment. MLS personnel are capable of performing pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical duties including specimen evaluation, data analysis, instruction to students, and instrument maintenance and problem resolution. Follows established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, safety, environmental and infectious control standards so that the laboratory remains in compliance with accreditation and licensing agencies. The Medical Laboratory Scientist performs, evaluates and reports results on specimens received for analysis; solves problems, instructs new employees and students, operates instruments and performs maintenance function checks and troubleshooting. Follows the principles outlined in the Compliance/ Integrity Program Handbook and adheres to all regulatory requirements for this position. Utilizes age related concepts for neonates (0-1 month) infants (1 month to age 1) toddlers (1-2 years), preschoolers (3-5 years), school age (6-12 years) of adolescents (ages 13-17) and adult patients including early adult (ages 18-35) middle adult (ages 36-65) and older adult (ages 66+) when communicating with patients and families, using medical equipment, or participating in diagnostic or other procedures. Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in related health sciences National Certification from American Society for Clinical Pathology -OR- National Medical Technologist - American Association of Bioanalysts -OR- National Medical Technologist - American Medical Technologists -OR- National Medical Technologist - American Society for Clinical Pathology -OR- National Medical Laboratory Scientist - American Society for Clinical Pathology -OR- National Clinical Laboratory Scientist - American Society for Clinical Pathology -OR- National Laboratory Tech - United States Government 10 or more years of cumulative full-time clinical laboratory experience with MLS or equivalent certification Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist, Salary Range: Eastern Washington (Richland, Spokane, Walla Walla) Min: $33.01, $52.26 Medical Laboratory Scientist Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in related health sciences or Current 3+1 student enrolled in PSHMC MT Program National Certification from American Society for Clinical Pathology -OR- National Medical Technologist - American Society for Clinical Pathology -OR- National Medical Technologist - American Medical Technologists -OR- National Medical Technologist - American Association of Bioanalysts -OR- National Medical Laboratory Scientist - American Society for Clinical Pathology -OR- National Clinical Laboratory Scientist - American Society
