Providence St. Joseph Health Director, Operations in Spokane, Washington
Description The role of the Director of Operations is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget for the Department. This includes coordinating the efforts of team members in order to deliver projects according to plan. Interaction with leadership and management, data collection, monitoring, analysis of trends related to outcomes, improvement plans, and reporting are key processes. This is a hands-on position requiring strong communication skills, project management experience, and healthcare operations expertise. Qualified candidates must have the following characteristics: professionalism, initiative, enthusiasm, ability to take direction and work effectively on a team or individually, excellent analytical skills, and excellent writing and communication skills. Position requires some independent thinking and decision-making, with limited supervision. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Prepare summary documents and agendas for discussion for meetings. Collaborate with Team Leads to charter new initiatives to operationalize objectives set by system. Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management, and stakeholders. Prepare and present system reporting measures and metrics. Develop and manage reporting of improvement portfolio, milestone plans, financial outcome measurements, project timelines, and methods to ensure progress for each initiative using appropriate tools. Organize, develop deliverables for, and attend weekly meetings with leadership and team leads and/or executives to gather information, communicate progress, and develop countermeasures regarding various initiatives. Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders in a timely and clear manner. Update various tracking and measurement tools, including benefit schedules, benefit calculation models, initiative charters, work plans, and milestones for each initiative. Develop and analyze the content of status reports from the project team, troubleshooting any problem areas. Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to leadership; work with leadership to identify issues, risks, and further opportunities. Analyze productivity and key performance trends and provide recommendations on improvement. Proactively seek out opportunities and initiatives that fall under the purview of the PMO. May have to travel to support certain projects or attend training sessions/seminars. May need to make presentations or train co-workers/interns. Present materials to physician and administration leadership. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management, Business, Healthcare Administration, or Management Information Systems from an Accredited College or University 5 years of experience in a large, multi-functional health care or equivalent environment 5 years of demonstrated experience with project management principles (preferred) 5 years of demonstrated experience with current data analysis principles, methods, procedures, practices, tools, and techniques (preferred) Experience with healthcare decision support and/or financial tools/databases Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment Clinical background or medical practice management (preferred) Training in healthcare decision support tools/databases Master's Degree in Healthcare, Business, or IT related field (preferred) Upon hire: Project Management Professional (PMP) (preferred) Clinical training/education (preferred) About Providence At Providence, our strength lies in Our Promise of "Know me, care for me, ease my way."
