Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 5:30 pm, operations needs / flexibility requested Salary range: $75,879.00 -$110026.00 USD Annual Histology Supervisor will supervise and oversee the day-to-day operation of the Histology Department; perform and demonstrate proficiency and understanding of technical procedures of processing, embedding, cutting, and staining tissue specimens. Identify and execute process improvement opportunities: collaborate with others to coordinate services, streamline, and standardize workflows and procedures, and/or drive positive outcomes. You Will: Oversee the work of assigned laboratory staff: work with the leadership across other departments. As a backup to the Leads, will review and approve time/attendance entries. Develop schedules to ensure minimal overtime: the Leads will assist. Manage the employee hiring process with the Laboratory Director. Supervise employee and team performance, new employee orientation processes, employee training and continuing education.Manage employee performance by coaching, counseling, motivating, and evaluating employees on a continual basis. Develop employees to facilitate their growth and desired promotional aspirations. Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy. Perform all the duties of a Histotech. Implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in accordance with CAP and other accreditation organizations. Fill in to provide coverage for laboratory staff as needed. Develop and maintain metrics. Maintain and determine usage of department supplies and inventory. Assist with creating and maintaining the department budget with the Laboratory Director. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education/Certifications HT or HTL ASCP certified. QHIC preferred. Bachelor's degree preferred. Lean/Six Sigma experience preferred. Skills and Abilities 5+ years' related experience required: relevant education may substitute for experience. 2+ years' experience in a leadership role preferred. Understand and follow all Incyte safety, infection control and OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen, CAP guidelines, Incyte compliance policies and all HIPAA guidelines. Ability to work all department shifts periodically to maintain familiarity with workflow and staff. Ability to effectively manage people to achieve departmental goals. Demonstrated understanding of specimen preparation, equipment, and techniques. Experience with advanced staining validations preferred. Ability to use a computer. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
