Job Overview:
Fountain Electric is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Procurement Intern to join our Procurement Department. This department plays a critical role in managing job package purchases, tracking lead times, and ensuring material acquisition for multiple projects across our four divisions. As a Procurement Intern, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in supply chain management, vendor relations, and project coordination.
Job Package Purchases:
Assist in procuring materials and equipment required for various electrical construction projects.
Collaborate with project managers and estimators to ensure purchase orders align with project requirements and budgets.
Monitor and maintain records of all job package purchases.
Lead Time Tracking:
Track lead times for materials and equipment to ensure timely delivery to job sites.
Communicate with suppliers to confirm availability and shipping schedules.
Proactively identify and address potential delays to minimize project disruptions.
Material Acquisition:
Support the acquisition and delivery of materials for multiple projects across four divisions.
Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure proper inventory management.
Assist in resolving discrepancies between purchase orders, shipments, and invoices.
Vendor Relations:
Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
Request quotes and negotiate pricing to achieve cost savings for the company.
Evaluate vendor performance and recommend improvements as needed.
Data Management and Reporting:
Maintain organized procurement records, including purchase orders, invoices, and delivery schedules.
Generate reports on procurement activities, lead times, and material costs.
Analyze data to identify opportunities for process improvement.
Qualifications:
- Education:
Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Experience:
Previous coursework or experience in procurement, supply chain, or logistics is preferred but not required.
Other:
Eagerness to learn and contribute to the procurement process in a practical setting.
