Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES SE-INSTRUCTIONAL SPECIALIST - Behavior, 10 months/yr. plus summer days in Spencerport, New York

The Instructional Specialist for behavior will provide targeted instructional support and coaching in the area of behavior support.

Schedule: 10 Months, plus summer days.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Organize and implement high-quality professional development offerings in behavior analysis and function-based thinking as requested.

  • Consult and coach teachers and support staff in classroom supports, MTSS and behavior best practices.

  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders and support improved results for all students.

  • Facilitate and/or assist with the preparation, planning, and review of behavior plans and supports using skills such as data analysis, research, and resource management.

  • Coordinate and/or support mandates and initiatives in areas such as SEL, Trauma-informed care, TCIS, PBIS, and Restorative Practice.

  • Review classroom management systems with teachers/paraprofessionals and suggest modifications/adaptations as necessary as well as universal strategies that may expand repertoire.

  • Continuously refine practices through the study of best practices in professional development, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, behavior, and education as a whole.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 5 years teaching experience with students with disabilities, general education, school psychology with additional course work in behavior analysis/function-based thinking. .

Education: Permanent/Professional New York State Teaching Certification in Special Education or K-12 Content Area Certification Or certification/licensure or course work in School Psychology or Behavior Analysis.
