Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES ADULT EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR - High School Equivalency (HSE), Full Time. 10 mos. plus summer days in Spencerport, New York
Seeking an instructor to advise, assess, and teach diverse group of High School Equivalency (HSE) learners. Daytime and evening availability is preferred
TYPICAL DUTIES
Responsibility for developing and implementing an instructional program designed to maximize the academic progress and meet the individual needs of enrolled students seeking to earn their high school equivalency diploma.
Provide differentiated instruction for High School Equivalency program for high school and out-of-school youth and young adults (ages 16-20) at a variety of readiness levels.
Plan and execute lessons in Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and career exploration incorporating instructional technology and literacy strategies to develop students’ skills.
Leverage instructional technology to provide individualized education, personalize learning experiences, and help meet diverse needs.
Evaluate student learning through formal and informal assessment practices, including state-required assessments for diagnostic and progress monitoring.
Monitor and report to CWD administration and parents the educational progress of all students enrolled. This includes activities such as progress reports, achievement, and diagnostic educational evaluations.
Conduct intake and assessment for all prospective students and families, including evening sessions.
Ensure program specific testing is completed, recorded accurately, and communicated to stakeholders in a timely manner.
Register incoming students for a GED account, schedule testing dates, ensure students have proper ID and documentation, and submit accommodation requests.
Review and support IEP, 504, and other individual student needs.
Report and document student attendance and academic progress
Perform all classroom clerical duties such as maintenance of cumulative folders and attendance records and completion of all forms as directed by NYSED.
Conduct periodic employment tracking for exited students
Work with support staff in meeting the instructional and workforce expectations for each student enrolled the program and to remain within the standards of the New York State Education Department
Support advisor and program staff with assessment and case management support for all CWD students
Maintains all safety standards as mandated by the BOCES 2 organization
Other duties as determined by the Director of BOCES 2 CWD
Attend 14 hours of NYSED approved professional development per year
Report directly to the Director of BOCES 2 CWD
Classes will be held at CWD WEMOCO Campus, 3589 Big Ridge Road, Spencerport NY 14559
Job Qualifications
Required
NYS Secondary Certification 7-12 (ELA or Math preferred)
3-5 years of teaching experience
Proficient with professional soft skills, ability to communicate clearly with diverse populations, work independently and as a team member.
Excellent instructional and interpersonal skills
Preferred
Additional NYS Certification in Special Education
Experience or knowledge of high school equivalency instruction and/or testing (GED)
