Sacred Heart Catholic School Spencer Intervention/PBIS Coordinator in Spencer, Iowa

Job description

Primary Purpose:

The Intervention/PBIS Coordinator is responsible for assisting teachers with student behaviors, providing teachers support for student academics, and supporting PBIS. The Intervention/PBIS Coordinator will work with the principal to provide facilitation and coaching to staff on how to best support behaviors in the classroom.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with individuals and small groups of students who have difficulty in meeting

the behavioral requirements of the school

  • Work with teachers to support students who need assistance with academic progress
  • Dedicated to improving Sacred Heart Schools PBIS policy and implementing additional practices to improve the school culture for behavioral expectations and help the school community view PBIS as a tiered system of support.
  • Serve as the point person for enforcing behavioral expectations and implementing PBIS/school consequences for our student population
  • Serve as a point person for de-escalating students in crisis and helping them utilize coping strategies to self regulate
  • Provide educational classroom workshops to students on making good behavioral choices and understanding school-wide behavior expectations
  • Visit and support teachers and staff members in behavioral and academic supports in the classroom
  • Maintain JMC and Panorama data entry and establish an efficient communication system for school staff to be aware of disciplinary actions.
  • Support PBIS Tier 1 and Building Intervention Team Meetings.
  • Work with individuals and small groups of students who have difficulty in meeting the behavioral requirements of the school
  • Create and implement behavior intervention plans to help support students who are having difficulties in the instructional setting
  • Serve as a point person for families regarding student discipline and behavior initiatives
  • Commit to ongoing professional development in the areas related to PBIS, trauma sensitive schools, restorative practices, mindfulness, and other approaches within the PBIS framework
  • Meet and discuss disciplinary incidents and actions with parents and students
  • Implement character education programs and activities for student body and assemblies aligned with our PBIS expectations throughout the school year, promoting a positive school environment
  • Coordinate and oversee our Be A Star Student program, which highlights when students and classroom communities exhibit behaviors aligned to our core character education values
  • Ensure confidentiality at all times
  • Ensure the integrity and fidelity of implementation of PBIS
  • Visibly engage in the school community by attending student events, concerts, sporting events and other extracurricular activities
  • Attend and facilitate school training opportunities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Comply with all school, Diocesan, and state policies and procedures

  • School supporters and stakeholders

Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required or Preferred:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelors of Education or working towards completing one.
  • Preferred background/knowledge of behavior management.
  • Experience in student behavior plans.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Must have the proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
  • Perform all other related work delegated or required by contract to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
  • Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.
  • Meet professional education requirements of school, Diocese, and state.

While performing this job the staff member must be able to:

  • Sit, stand and walk for required periods of time within the classroom and school
  • Speak, hear, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing using proper grammar and vocabulary
  • Use close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception along with the ability to focus vision
  • Reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to handle objects and operate tools, computers, and/or controls; some light lifting may be required.

Duties may require travel and attendance at evening and/or weekend meetings. Although work is performed primarily under inside environmental conditions, the required travel may result in temporary exposure to outside environmental conditions. Regular driving and valid drivers license are required. Duties require a wide range of intellectual and practical problem-solving skills and comprehension of complex concepts.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $35,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
