Charles Schwab Senior Manager - Cloud Application Enablement in Southlake, Texas

The Cloud Services organization within Schwab Technology Services (STS) empowers Schwab’s development teams with an easy to use, self-service catalog of operationalized, secure cloud products meeting Schwab’s regulatory requirements that exceed Client expectations. The organization’s mission is to operationalize Schwab’s cloud capabilities to enable the scalable and secure migration of Enterprise applications to our multi-cloud infrastructure.

We are looking for an experienced People Leader to lead, maintain, support, and continuously improve an Application Enablement team for the Cloud Engineering & Operations team. This position will enable and support enterprise business applications transitioning to one of three cloud environments. The Senior Manager's team will be responsible for partnering with application teams to troubleshoot & resolve existing issues with terraform modules, monitoring and alerting and more. In addition, this team will partner with Cloud Tools Engineering to accelerate development of self service solutions and dashboards to enable application development teams to operate their cloud environments in a DevSecOps model.

You will be working with best of breed technologists and SMEs across Cloud Architecture, Cloud Security, Cloud SRE and Cloud Engineering to bring a high level of energy, focus and fresh ideas that support our mission to provide value by seeing the world “Through Clients' Eyes.”

What you're good at

  • Identify and resolve business problems of wide scope applying sophisticated analytical thought and judgment, maneuvers through ambiguity

  • Guides' team members to resolve issues of significant impact; to support and adhere to technical standards established by the firm; Provides feedback for technical improvement of implementation and design; Leads multiple teams to produce performant and scalable systems through engineering and operational excellence

  • Ability to anticipate business/industry issues and recommend new and innovative approaches to respond

  • Responsible for business partnership and collaborating on cross-organization functional objectives with upstream/downstream functions of own business segment

  • Provide mentorship, on the job guidance, and career development to impact the performance of direct reports; Be a Role Model and provide leadership examples for the organization

  • Run a cooperative effort among members of an engineering team within Cloud Infrastructure foundational areas

  • Solving problems and minimizing waste through a strong analytical and continuous improvement approach

  • Building and encouraging strong teams to deliver efficient, reliable, and secure solutions

  • Comfortable communicating expectations to team and reporting up to senior leadership

  • Identifying and hiring strong talent

What you have

Required:

  • 7-10 years leadership experience – servant Leadership and the ability to communicate solutions/strategy with the proper level of detail at each of multiple levels - executive, middle leadership, and individual contributors who will complete the solution.

  • Direct Experience working in Cloud Infrastructure, Cloud Architecture or Application Development in a multi-cloud environment.

  • Demonstrated client empathy

  • Experience in a DevOps or DevSecOps environment.

  • Technical competency - Knowledge of cloud architectures, tools, and environments with a focus on security, availability, and resiliency

  • Thorough understanding of functional operations and how multi-functional interdependencies may affect attainment of goals

  • Demonstrated direct leadership of individual contributors (training, coaching, mentoring, performance management and development)

  • Demonstrated effective talent management skills in recruiting, hiring, developing and performance management to engage and retain team members; Supports diversity & inclusion strategy initiatives

  • Uses independent decision-making to determine methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

  • Experience designing, completing & maintaining team level strategy, objectives and contributing to organizational wide strategy and objectives.

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field or equivalent experience.

  • Resourceful in problem solving and cross-organization collaboration

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred:

  • Financial services experience a plus
