Robert Half Property Accounting Manager in Southfield, Michigan

Description

We are seeking a Property Accounting Manager based in SOUTHFIELD, Michigan. This role is within the finance industry, specifically focusing on property accounting. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing a team of Property Accountants, analyzing financial statements, preparing and reviewing balance sheet accounts and bank reconciliations. This role involves a hybrid work arrangement, offering flexibility between remote and in-office work.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the monthly accounting functions of a team of Property Accountants.

• Analyze financial statements and prepare variance comments when over/under budget.

• Review and approve journal entries prepared by the team.

• Prepare and review balance sheet account and bank reconciliations.

• Provide supervision, training, development, and mentorship to the team on accounting entries, reconciliation processes, and task and time management.

• Ensure internal controls are in place to safeguard financial information.

• Assist with identifying areas to support operations in understanding accounting requirements.

• Compile and review annual budgets, accrued liabilities, deposits, revenue recognition, and fixed assets.

• Work closely with the Assistant Controller on process improvement and standardization of templates.

• Coordinate accounting matters with other departments and identify procedures to accommodate growth and new business.

• Create written procedures on new policies and train affected team members.

Requirements • Must possess a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification

• Should have at least 7 years of experience in a similar role or field

• Ability to analyze financial statements is mandatory

• Experience in auditing financial statements is required

• Experience preparing and reviewing consolidated financial statements is a necessity

• Proficiency in using general ledger systems is required

• Must have experience with month-end close activities

• Strong communication and organizational skills are necessary

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team is crucial

• Must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required.
