Description

OVERVIEW

Cadrex Southampton has a need to add an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist to setup and operate CNC Lathes to produce a wide variety of complex machined parts. CNC machining experience, a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and the willingness and ability to learn are critical to success. Overtime is available and opportunity for growth into management level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Setup and operate CNC Lathes for production of complex parts

  • Interpret engineering drawings and process sheets to determine work requirements

  • Prove out and edit G Code based CNC programs

  • Inspect machined parts through use of mechanical inspection tools, CMMs, and gages to validate that parts conform to engineering drawing requirements

  • Be accountable for the quality of work performed, including, but not limited to:

  • Applying appropriate inspection methods for your process

  • Ensuring proper completion of quality documentation associated with your process

  • Maintaining a clean and orderly work environment

  • Ensuring proper workmanship, handling, and deburring of parts

  • Contribute ideas that eliminate waste and ensure continuous improvement of production processes

  • Support a productive and positive team culture by operating multiple spindles (when possible), sharing knowledge with your peers, and maintaining the hours and attendance needed to support the company’s mission

  • Continue to grow as a machinist with a willingness to implement new tools, new ideas, and new technologies as they become available

Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience setting up and running CNC Lathes.

  • A positive attitude with a desire to problem solve is an absolute requirement.

  • Experience editing and proving out CNC programs.

  • Experience reading and the ability to comprehend engineering drawings and manufacturing plans (process sheets)

  • Understanding of GDT a plus.

  • Familiarity with live tooling, gantry systems, robotics, bar feeders, and automation accessories a plus.

  • Working knowledge of speeds and feeds

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills a must

EDUCATION

  • Highschool Diploma

  • 2-year technical certification or equivalent experience preferred
