Amgen’s Large Molecule Discovery & Research Data Sciences organization is seeking an innovative Senior Scientist to join the Discovery Protein Science (DPS) group at our South San Francisco site. DPS is responsible for designing, planning and executing on the generation of key enabling reagents to support early discovery of small and large molecule therapeutics and ground-breaking modalities. In this vital role you will support Amgen's early drug discovery pipeline by:

  • Contributing to production of fit-for-purpose protein reagents.

  • Identifying and implementing innovative solutions to increase our throughput, improve quality and streamline data capture and analysis.

  • Partnering with Research Informatics and Automation teams to develop robust, integrated solutions for protein expression and purification.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree PhD OR PharmD OR MD [and relevant post-doc where applicable] in Biochemistry or Engineering

Or

Master’s degree and 3 years of scientific experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with high throughput technologies, automation platforms and data management.

  • Flexibly skilled in state-of-the-art protein biochemistry techniques, protein purification, analytical techniques; knowledge of cloning, protein engineering and protein expression.

  • Demonstrated strong communication skills and ability to multi-task and work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in research, exemplified by strong publication and/or patent record.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
