Amergis Family Medicine Medical Assistant in South Portland, Maine
Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Medical Assistant responsible for performing duties under the direction of a physician to assist in the examination and treatment of patients.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assessment of provider schedules and organize patient flow
Assist providers with patient care:
- Rooming complex and acutely ill patients
Maintain data registries and Meaningful Use information
Medication reconciliation of complex medication lists
Take vital signs and weight
Perform point of care testing as directed by provider
Perform screenings per provider guidelines
Assist providers with clinical procedures
Give injections and immunizations as directed by provider
Input patient care orders after Provider has noted them in patients progress note
Document all clinical data correctly and appropriately in patient’s EHR
Communicate patient information after consultation with Provider
Preload patient records prior to routine visit per provider protocol and oversight
Refill patient medications according to protocol per provider approval and oversight
Prepare, stock and clean exam room(s), maintain supplies and equipment for treatment
Oversight of clinical environment with attention to safety and infection control
Oversight of clinical equipment including routine checks, calibration, cleaning and repairing
Perform point of care testing; oversight of testing kits
Maintain emergency equipment
Maintain pharmacy stock
Oversight of vaccine storage, handling and supply
Administer routine regular and non-routine medications per standing order protocol, and/or provider orders
Accurate documentation of all vaccine records
Provide follow up with patient after hospital and /or skilled facility discharge
Provide patient nursing care; facilitate patient education
Coordinate and support individual, group and population based health maintenance and promotion
Coordinate patient care management with in house specialties and resources; community resources; home health and other health care agencies; hospital care
Manage telephone encounters utilizing triage and telehealth principles
Excellent professional judgment, phone skills and decision making ability
Work collaboratively with all team members
Demonstrate initiative, responsibility, flexibility and decision making
Demonstrate critical and reflective thinking
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
Ability and willingness to provide excellent customer service to patients, InterMed colleagues and vendors
Maintain confidentiality and compliance in all patient care activities
Participate in continuing and professional development
Complete InterMed clinical competence expectations Be an informed clinical care resource
Special projects as assigned by lead, coordinator or manager
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- MA
Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program,
preferably an Associates Degree program; current CMA or RMA certification; or must obtain within 6 weeks of hire
