WestRock Company Folder Gluer Operator Lead in South Plainfield, New Jersey
GENERAL PURPOSE: Develop department work schedule with input from Plant Manager. Oversee operations in the Finishing department, including machinery maintenance, scheduling, employee training to ensure that customer expectations are met.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Ensures that all employees and equipment are working in a proper and safe manner.
In conjunction with the Plant Manager, reviews daily work schedule and proper placement of items on gluing equipment depending on style of carton.
Performs make-readies and oversees all gluing operators on machines set ups, running speeds and carton quality.
Reviews job jacket to ensure all customer specifications were met.
Assigns work crew to machine on a daily basis.
Participates in the development and training of new employees in department.
Oversees and performs maintenance and repairs on machinery.
Reviews new carton constructions with Design department, and provides input for make-ready speeds for Estimating department.
Orders glue and machine parts for equipment.
· Performs other job duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have high school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D).
Must have minimum 7 years’ experience in gluing and finishing.
Must have basic personal computer skills including experience with electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, maintaining spreadsheets, and graphics.
Must pass color vision and color hue tests.
Must be able to direct the work of employees in the department.
Must demonstrate full competency on all gluing equipment (Bobst Media’s and Domino, International 6FX’s and Royal 33 gluers) and associated machinery (Pafra gluing systems, Nordson hot melt, Leary glue detection, Blen Cal bar code scanner and Solor Jet laser coding machine and Label Aire security label application systems).
Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
Must be able to maintain good attendance.
