Painter Job no: R-0000001600 Full Time or Part Time: Full time In-Person, Hybrid, or Remote: In-Person Minimum Starting Rate of Pay: \$28.56 Rate of pay commensurate with experience Job Description: Duties and responsibilities Responsibilities include supporting the Facilities Maintenance mission of providing well maintained classrooms, residence halls and other facilities related to an institution of higher education. This position requires a broad set of skills with experience in the many facets of painting work - both interior and exterior. This position performs in an institutional/residential setting that requires: good housekeeping skills; a \"least-disruptive\" approach to work; and an appreciation of the unique surroundings and those who also work/live in these surroundings. Qualifications High school or equivalent. A valid driver\'s license and successful credentialing is required. Three or more years of experience in the field of painting. Willingness to provide your own transportation while working throughout the Campus. The ability to work outside in all seasons and in all weather conditions. The ability to handle and move heavy materials. Flexibility in changing from one job assignment to another with little notice. Ability to perform all of the varied tasks associated with painting: spray-on finishes, applying epoxies, lacquers, oil paints, varnishes, latex paints, etc. Knowledge and understanding of the safety concerns related to: lead paint, asbestos, solvents, and breathing apparatus. The knowledge to recognize paint failures on paint surfaces. Ability to patch & repair drywall and plaster walls. Ability to clean and maintain tools, brushes and other equipment. Willingness to be certified to operate a high lift. Good communication skills. A willingness to perform other duties as assigned.
