SOUTH DEERFIELD Standards Engineer - Design Auditor Responsible for examining engineering CAD models, drawings, and documentation for accuracy and completeness based on prescribed standards, design requirements, and contractual requirements. Investigates errors and recommends solutions. Provides direction in the correction of errors in calculations, dimensions, and design specifications. Exercises authority to reject incorrect documentation in terms of technical content, standards, and specifications. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Checks engineering drawings for accuracy and consistency, manufacturability, tolerances, form, fit, function, and performance, where performance is a design requirement. Compares key input elements to ensure accuracy of design output (ie: Sales Order \> Customer Purchase Order \> Quote submittal \> Inquiry) Works closely with Engineers/Designers/Drafters to understand full scope of design requirements. Performs searches in drawing database to eliminate duplication of design drawings and communicate findings (if any) back to the Engineer/Designer/Drafter and CSR (if applicable). Looks for opportunities to reduce costs in designs by consolidating hardware options (screws, washers, nuts, etc.) where applicable. Check for RoHS, REACH, DFARS, etc. compliancy of drawing components where those specifications are dictated by customer requirements. Offers suggestions to Engineers/Designers/Drafters to maintain proper dimensioning schemes. Confers with Engineers/Designers/Drafters to resolve drawing and design errors. Approves and signs off on conforming drawings. Submits appropriate files to CAM department for programming. Maintains a clean and orderly file structure to minimize or eliminate confusion and duplication of work. Tracks daily totals of drawings checked as well as year-to-date totals. Tracks types and quantities of errors discovered to identify systemic issues. Conducts recurring continuous improvement trainings based off these findings. JOB REQUIREMENTS Bachelor\'s degree in engineering, Technical Certificate, or equivalent experience. 5-7 years\' experience with manufacturing and engineering disciplines. Working knowledge of CAD modeling and Drafting Principles. Solid Edge preferred. Working knowledge of Material Requirement Planning (MRP) system. SAP preferred. Experience mentoring and coaching others relating to technical skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient knowledge of process development and process validation.
