Eaton Corporation Continuous Improvement Manager in South Bend, Indiana

Eaton’s Mobility Group is seeking a regional Continuous Improvement Manager for our Vehicle Group North America (VGNA) Commercial Vehicle division. This position may be based at our Southfield, MI (preferred); Kings Mountain (Charlotte area), NC (preferred), or South Bend, IN facility. Relocation assistance is available. Travel up to 50% will be required within the US and Mexico.

What you’ll do:

Reporting to the Director of Continuous Improvement for VGNA, you will be responsible for building a culture for Continuous Improvement (CI) across four manufacturing sites in US and Mexico. You will leverage Lean/Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement Framework strategies to improve competitiveness and organizational capability to meet both short- and long-term goals. Eaton is dedicated to ensuring world class manufacturing processes, and as a leader in the CI team, you will advance our capabilities through new automation and various Industry 4.0 solutions in our sites. You will collaborate with cross functional teams across the division and bring fresh operational ideas to drive business results. You will be seen as a leader and will both manage a small team directly, as well as lead and mentor other members of the CI organization within the individual sites.

Responsibilities:

• Coach and support the plants in developing their CI roadmaps and setting stretch goals to support the organization's strategy for model plant status

• Conduct Eaton Lean System (ELS) assessments and identify performance gaps. Work through the leadership team to prioritize improvement activities and close gaps

• Conduct reviews and process checks to ensure sites are maintaining their standards and action plans are in place to move to improve

• Leads improvement activities including training, mentoring, facilitating Kaizen events, Six Sigma projects, tool deployment, benchmarking, etc.

• Support Site Leadership in the selection of Site CI leaders and provide key input to identify potential candidates for CI certification programs to feed succession planning and development planning

• Lead the division in all Eaton business internal audit requirements, ensuring plant teams are prepared

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.

• Minimum 8 years of experience with progressive levels of accountability and responsibility in Manufacturing/Operations, Continuous Improvement, and/or Manufacturing Engineering is required

• Formal training/certification in Lean (5S, Standard work, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Setup Reduction (SUR), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Lean Material Flow (LMF) and 6 Sigma with at least 5 years of related experience

• Experience managing/leading others in a manufacturing setting

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree from an accredited institution is preferred

• Minimum 2 years of direct people management experience

• Operations, Continuous Improvement, or Operational Excellence ownership within a multi-site operation preferred

• Understanding of best-in-class manufacturing within a complex, multinational organization

• Experience in the automotive industry a plus

• Strong Communication skills and comfort with facilitating teams/groups and working with all levels of the organization.

• A successful candidate for this position must convey complex information and be able to develop communication strategies, to persuade persuades significantly diverse audiences.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $136500.03 - $200200.04 a year. This role is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
