Job Title: Machine Assembler

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated assembler for our South Bend, IN location. The role involves working at heights and on ladders, fastening joints and seams in sheet metal using fasteners and drivers, and ensuring all work meets quality specifications and safety guidelines. This position requires teamwork, and previous construction experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Screw sheet metal panels together.

  • Install insulation.

  • Use power tools such as drills, grinders, and plasma cutting equipment.

  • Lay out, measure, and mark dimensions and reference lines on material.

  • Utilize calculators and tape measures for precision.

  • Fasten seams and joints together with bolts, rivets, caulks, and metal drive clips to assemble components into products.

  • Drill holes in metal for screws, bolts, and rivets.

  • Assemble and fit pre-fabricated parts to form subassemblies.

  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area.

Essential Skills

  • Previous mechanical assembly experience.

  • Proficiency with power tools such as drills, grinders, plasma cutting equipment, impacts, and saws.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Experience in fabrication shops.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with assembly, sheet metal, and hand tools.

  • Experience reading tape measures, levels, and squares.

  • Knowledge of blueprint reading, installation assembly, and construction.

  • Experience in sheet metal fabrication.

Work Environment

This role is based in a fabrication shop environment, which is typically darker, dirty, and loud. You will be working on large control panels that sit on top of commercial buildings. The standard work hours are from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, with additional hours available on Fridays and Saturdays.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00
