Overview
This position is responsible for preparing, packing, and shipping finished product, and arranging shipments with the transportation companies and freight forwarders.
Responsibilities
Includes, but is not limited to, the following...
- Assure orders and shipping quantities documents are correct through careful audit of documents and components
- Prepare orders for shipment using proper packaging
- Ship orders using FEDEX, UPS and XCarrier
- As necessary use hand tools, panel saws, chop saws, nail gun, and staple gun to fabricate wood components and assemble crate to pack finished product
- Assist and evaluate needs with shipping points, services, weights and other information
- Notify consignee of shipment arrival
- Enter data pertaining to domestic and international shipments into ISO forms, i.e. shipment confirmation, and into the shipping systems of commercial freight carriers
- Monitor the supply of packaging materials and requisition additional supplies as required
- Confirm physical shipment of goods, facilitate tracking of packages
- Identify errors on packing lists and ensure the accuracy of all shipping document by strict adherence to standard operation procedures
- Maintain all data and records relative to shipping activities
- Ensure that drivers depart with appropriate paperwork
- Other duties as assigned/needed

Qualifications

Education and Experience
High School Degree or GED equivalent
At least one (1) year of shipping and/or warehouse experience
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Possess strong verbal and written communication skills; demonstrate ability to multi task several priorities and possess solid time management skills.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Must be capable of successfully completing training and safely operating a fork truck and overhead crane.
