The Role:

The Business and Competitive Intelligence (BCI) team is responsible for gathering, organising, and reporting market and competitor data to inform commercial strategic decision-making.

As a BCI Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our team's mission to drive business development decision-making through data-driven insights, providing support to projects in the areas of market assessments, competitor monitoring, etc. Your contributions will be instrumental in shaping commercial strategy development. You'll have the opportunity to work closely with senior business development leaders and other key functions across the company to drive the development of our company-wide intelligence database. You'll be an expert, champion, and trusted point of contact for the intelligence database across the business, ensuring data consistency and integrity and resolving any issues that arise.

You will hold a dual responsibility:

Line management, including: workload allocation, addressing training requirements, maintaining oversight of workload and ensuring adherence to deadlines In addition to line management, you will be responsible for managing ad hoc business intel related requests and collecting and analysing intelligence data and working with both primary and secondary information sources to provide clear, accurate summaries for key stakeholders

Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Gathering relevant market intelligence, leveraging both internal and external data sources, including industry reports, market research studies

  • Creating and distributing standardized reports on markets, pipelines, competitors and other business relevant topics

  • Providing BD with pharma/ biotech/ medtech industry, market, and company research to support account planning

  • Providing Executive level support as well as key ad hoc reporting and cross-functional project management when the skillset is required.

  • Managing cross-functional projects in areas such as product/regional markets, pipelines, competitors, and other BCI business relevant topics

  • Act as Point person for Executive Support

  • Support ongoing maintenance and housekeeping of the business and competitive intelligence (BCI) database, liaising with multiple functions, including Business Development, Finance, HR, Operations, Marketing and IT to provide ‘the best version of the truth’ to stakeholders enabling informed strategic decision-making

  • Sharing time sensitive news alerts from reputed pharma/biotech magazines mainly focused on clinical developments and updates; financial overview and outlook; acquisitions and strategic alliances; expansions and leadership changes

  • Supporting the provision of training to team members and key stakeholders

  • Contributing to development of processes and tools along with other improvement initiatives to improve the efficiency of the BCI department

  • Participating in special projects periodically assigned, in addition to day-to-day duties

  • Providing back-up to BCI leadership as required

  • Managing a small team of Business Intelligence Analysts

  • Supervising the team, managing their day-to-day work, their priorities and being a go-to for queries and support ensuring sustained focus on delivering high quality concise insights that can create impact and be of value to stakeholders

  • Mentoring and developing BCI team members, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent (Life Sciences preferred but not essential)

  • Previous line management experience preferred

  • Prior experience successfully performing the role of a Business Intelligence Analyst or equivalent (a minimum of 2 years' experience) preferred

  • Prior working experience within or knowledge of CRO, Pharmaceutical or related industry from commercial and clinical development perspectives would be advantageous

  • Broad level of commercial awareness, and the information needs of different functions within a business

  • Passion for uncovering insights that drive business success

  • Self-starter with excellent organisational skills and ability to multitask and prioritise workload in a fast paced dynamic environment

  • Highly motivated, resilient and enthusiastic team player with an ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully move into problem-solving mode whenever challenges or concerns arise

  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite of tools including PowerPoint and Word. Intermediate to advanced Excel and VBA skills would be advantageous

  • Working knowledge of Salesforce.com and its reporting functions is preferred

  • Experience in working with pharmaceutical databases (Citeline, Evaluate, Trial trove, Factiva etc.) preferred and the ability to judge their appropriate application to the project

  • Data visualisation and analytics experience, for example using Tableau or PowerBI is desirable

  • Clear understanding of the impact of industry news on the business, and delivering value added information to all key stakeholders in real-time

  • Ability to consolidate and triangulate data and information from primary market research, secondary data sources and competitive intelligence into actionable insights

  • Excellent numeracy with an ability to analyse data confidently

  • An understanding of report design and how to convey information to end users in a clear and informative way using tables, graphs and other similar visuals

  • A can-do, enabling attitude with strong problem-solving skills, and an ability to think creatively

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and multitask in high-pressure situations

  • Strong attention to detail, focused on the delivery of a first-class service

  • Ability to evaluate assigned projects and identify critical issues and questions

  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time

  • Fluency in English and excellent written English skills are essential
