Summary The Financial Accounts Technician is organizationally aligned under the Chief Financial Officer, in the Accounts Management department. The CPAC are regionally consolidated business entities established to enhance revenue within VHA. You will be responsible for the accounts receivable (collection) functions of the revenue program including third-party insurance reimbursements and other account receivables. This position is in Smyrna, TN. Responsibilities THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION The major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Performs accounts receivable (collection) functions of the revenue program including third-party insurance reimbursements and other account receivables. Analyzes outstanding third-party receivables to determine the best course of action to affect maximum revenue recovery. Receives, processes, and responds to a variety of communications generated by third-party payers. Audits, analyzes and reviews information regarding the established third-party receivable to discuss the status of the account when inquiry is made on follow-up. Maintains and updates computerized records of debts to document collection efforts and identify trends for management. Coordinates collection efforts utilizing accounts receivable software packages. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other departments involved with the revenue cycle organization as well as external organizations; and Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-4 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes processing health claims; Contacting insurance companies to expedite collections; Performs pharmacy claim submissions for patients and beneficiaries with reimbursable prescription insurance; Performs accounts receivable follow-up and adjudicates third party pharmacy claims; Researches and analyzes problems and issues related to electronic submission of claims. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Successful completion of (4) years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite.
