Based at Smithtown Factory, we’re currently seeking a Process Specialist to optimise sustained improvements in performance across the site’s manufacturing processes and line efficiencies through providing process expertise. To support, coach and develop cross functional teams to optimise the application of projects with the appropriate skills and knowledge to support across all site processes.

A day in the life…

Reporting to the Production Manager, key responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical support and manage the link between process theory and engineering capabilities of factory equipment.

  • Liaise as required directly with technical colleagues in factories, corporate and technology centres etc

  • Identify improvement opportunities and develop action plans to implement these initiatives.

  • Continuously review the operation and identify strategies for developing the process and improving the factories competitive position.

  • Source new and evaluate current raw materials or processing methods considering new trends, developments in materials and environmental benefits.

  • Provide technical advice on raw materials and process equipment.

  • Manage the interdepartmental relationships to optimise maintenance, capital investment activities and Neschange projects.

  • Develop process and system improvements to enable the line to operate at high efficiency and low cost.

  • Develop and maintain technical drawings (flowsheets) for each product and related process step.

  • Assist in support to managing project timelines & follow up Engineering closing out of tasks, to ensure project aspects are completed as per Production requirements.

  • Facilitate in action plans and implementation of those actions to ensure that the line efficiency and performance targets are met.

  • Lead cross functional teams to steer and transfer knowledge to necessary operators and teams within the factory.

  • Work with QA and Production in reducing Product Quality Complaints. Complete trials & reports as required.

  • Assist in Quality System documentation reviews and procedure manuals.

What will make you successful

  • You are a strong team player and are able to work collaboratively within a team to achieve required targets and objectives.

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Food processing, Applied Science or other relevant technical discipline is essential

  • 5+ years demonstrated experience within a similar role in a food manufacturing environment.

  • Continuous improvement experience.

  • Your analytical mindset and experience solving complex problems will enable you to drive plant performance and monitor inefficiencies accurately.

  • Strong relationship builder in order to provide professional and technical support to the production team.

  • Equally important will be your ability to drive change and take people on the journey of continuous improvement through strong influencing and change management skills.

  • Experience in a lean manufacturing environment preferable.

  • You have the ability to work with tight deadlines in a dynamic environment, delivering quality outputs with strong attention to detail and an ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Strong communication skills and flexibility are vital.
