The Challenge

We're looking for an Electronics Technician to join our Johnston County Traffic Services team.

In this role, you will:

• Provide technical work in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical/electronic equipment with an emphasis on traffic control equipment and related devices throughout Division 4 (Edgecombe, Halifax, Johnston, Nash, Wayne and Wilson Counties,) but primarily in Johnston county.
• Create monthly Project Reports.
• Locate and install traffic signal equipment, wiring detectors, and wiring controllers.
• Trace out electrical wiring diagrams to locate trouble.
• Dismantle and reassemble components.
• Replace worn/faulty parts.

What You Bring

• Knowledge of standard test equipment used to diagnose electronic components.
• Experience reading and understanding schematic drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Knowledge of the National Electric Code.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and carry out work assignments effectively with minimal supervision.
• Experience performing manual and physical labor in varied environmental conditions.
• Strength to lift up to 80+ pounds to shoulder high.
• Ability to use and operate an aerial bucket truck up to 60 feet.
• Good ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and comply with all safety rules/policies to maintain a safe work environment.
• Ability to perform manual physical labor in the installation and removal of traffic signs and other traffic control devices.
• You can work outside in extreme cold and hot, and with exposure to noise, dust, asphalt, traffic and heavy construction.
• Ability to get a Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker (N) endorsement within 360 days of hire. (If you don't have it already, still apply. You can get it through our On-the-job Training).
• Safety toe footwear.

Notes

• Your work will be performed without constant supervision and will be evaluated by your supervisor to ensure an efficient use of time and proper operation of repaired/maintained Traffic Control Systems.
• Overtime work is required when necessary, and you will be subject to emergency callback.
• We will conduct a pre-employment drug test and background check with previous employers for the past 2 years about controlled substances/alcohol abuse.
