Position Overview & Responsibilities

This position is responsible for ensuring all live haul equipment sanitation needs are executed in accordance with safety, quality, and bio-security standards to meet transportation deadlines. The Transportation Hub Manager will provide leadership to the team working at the wash in which they supervise and will support the personal development of staff to fulfill individual career objectives as well as organizational needs. This individual will be expected to develop strong working relationships to help develop and implement solutions for inter-dependent opportunities/challenges. A strong sense of ownership in results as they relate to leadership and operational metrics is expected of the individual in this role.

Major Areas of Accountability

  • Responsible for ensuring a safe work environment and culture in our facilities by leading and maintaining our safety programs.

  • Responsible for supervising, coaching, and developing direct reports. Must work with contract labor partners to provide feedback on how the contract washers are performing and direct them as needed to achieve our business results.

  • Participate in the development of the departmental business plan and budgeting process to support continuous improvement and strategic initiatives.

  • Verify budget spend at the end of each month for accuracy.

  • Accountable for improvement of Key Performance Indicators including leadership and operational metrics.

  • Establish and implement plans and strategies to develop trailer wash leads and wash staff to support career objectives and organizational leadership needs.

  • Develop strong relationships with key business partners to anticipate and resolve issues to improve business processes, both internal and external to the trailer wash department.

  • Coordinate training, SOP development and process improvement initiatives to ensure compliance, support personal development and contribute to departmental progress.

  • Ensure all required tools, equipment and resources are available and utilized to fulfill trailer wash functions as per SOP.

  • Supervise and ensure quality, safety, bio-security and operational protocols and standards for the trailer wash are followed.

  • Implement and uphold maintenance and repair schedules of all trailer wash facilities and equipment.

  • Input data/reporting and time keeping processes relative to trailer washes to ensure the needs of the business are fulfilled.

  • Order and stock the appropriate supplies for wash site and drivers.

  • Ensure execution of facility/grounds maintenance & repair and coordinate with environmental resources to manage wastewater to company standards.

  • Manage utility use including LP, natural gas, and water.

  • Assist with trailer washing processes and inspecting as needed.

  • Collaborate with Driver Lead/Transport Manager to support trailer repair and maintenance and resolve any issues.

  • Ensure trailers meet sanitation expectations and are equipped with necessary supplies/tools.

  • Implement and update maintenance, repair and inspection schedules for all trailers located at the wash. Input and update required fields in the trailer repair spreadsheet.

  • Distribute and monitor driver involvement pertaining to the trailer pre and post trip inspection sheets. Perform the repair or schedule the appropriate repair based on needs submitted on the pre and post trips forms. Enter required data on the transportation goggle drive pre and post trip area daily.

  • Provide feedback to the Operations Manager on contract services, employee performance and work quality, labor needs and driver concerns and issues.

  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

    Education, Training, and Experience Required

  • Minimum formal education required: High School Diploma or Equivalence

  • Minimum number of years of prior job experience required: 2 years

  • Specialized Training requirements: None

  • Other Technical Skills Required:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to exercise effective judgment and act under pressure

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced, dynamic and challenging environment

  • Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel

  • Other Technical Skills required: Power washing experience required, mechanical background preferred.
