Bloomberg Senior Data Management Professional - Data Product Owner - Equity Corporate Actions in Skillman, New Jersey

Bloomberg runs on data. Our products are fueled by powerful information. We combine data and context to paint the whole picture for our clients, around the clock – from around the world. In Data, we are responsible for delivering this data, news and analytics through innovative technology - quickly and accurately. We apply problem-solving skills to identify innovative workflow efficiencies, and we implement technology solutions to enhance our systems, products and processes.

Our Team:

The Equity Corporate Actions team supports the end-to-end lifecycle management of equity instruments, from private markets M&A, IPO & equity offerings, distribution of capital, corporate events, equity reference, identifiers, and pricing. Our team's success is derived from deep domain knowledge, multi-disciplinary collaboration, thoughtful technology utilization, and data management expertise. A strong combination of these skills within our team is critical for us to continuously deliver high quality data that’s fit-for-purpose.

The role:

We are looking for a highly motivated Data Product Owner to join our group to evolve our data product. If you’re successful in your application, you’ll be able to use your financial market knowledge and industry experience to evolve our Equity Corporate Actions data product to meet both existing and future client needs.

You’ll engage directly with our clients to understand their use of our data product, and what makes our data product ‘fit-for-purpose’ from their unique perspectives. You’ll use this understanding to formulate a data product strategy, and coordinate its execution with colleagues in Data, Product, Enterprise, and Engineering. You’ll be collaborating closely with counterparts across these business units, to align our evolving data product to support both Bloomberg Terminal and Enterprise priorities within the equity data space.

You’ll be expected to learn how data management at Bloomberg works at multiple levels, in order to ensure we don’t just evolve the data product design, but we can support the ongoing delivery of high quality data as well: from sourcing raw data, processing data using the right tools and techniques, and proactive management of data quality. In this regard, you’ll work closely with the data management teams to ensure we can deliver on the fullest potential of the data product design.

We’ll trust you to:

  • Develop and execute a strategic vision for Bloomberg’s Equity Corporate Actions data products

  • Partner with Product, Enterprise, Engineering and other internal stakeholders to ensure business priorities are accounted for and aligned with the development of our data product

  • Engage with external market participants to understand existing and evolving use of our data

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients at multiple levels, including management of immediate data issues and concerns, as well as proactive engagement to support development of the data product

  • Evolve our understanding of client use-cases and perspectives in using our data product, managing our definitions and targets that define our data product as fit-for-purpose

  • Evolve our semantic data model and taxonomy, in alignment with broader corporate action management across the Data department

  • Leverage analytical skills to profile our data product, and define metrics to measure business impact and success of data product evolution

  • Thoroughly document and track our data product evolution, proactively communicating current state and path forward to stakeholders and management

  • Continuously deliver incremental value, always with an eye toward long term outcomes, pivoting as needed through an Agile approach

You’ll need to have:

  • 4+ years experience working within the domain of financial data, with exposure and knowledge of how corporate actions data is used by various financial market players

  • Extensive experience in communicating and coordinating with internal and external groups to define product and project scope, and demonstrable experience in delivering outcomes

  • Customer focused approach and ability to interact with a diverse range of clients, in both a proactive and reactive manner, managing customer expectations and experience

  • Comfort in technical data management concepts and experience evaluating trade-offs in design with Engineering counterparts

  • Experience in data management concepts such as data quality, data modeling, and data engineering

  • High degree of proven decision-making and problem-solving skills

We’d love to see:

  • A degree/master/PhD in a STEM subject or Economics/Finance

  • Formal knowledge of data governance and data management, supported by industry certifications (e.g. DAMA CDMP, DCAM, etc.)

  • Exposure to the Bloomberg Terminal and/or Bloomberg Enterprise data products

Does this sound like you? Apply if you think we're a good match. We'll get in touch to let you know what the next steps are!

Salary: 110000,170000,USD,Annual
