What you will do

The Engineer will report to Senior Manager, Engineering Support. This role takes on a technical lead role in a team which collaborates with System Owners and Maintenance team to drive alignment on reliability best practices and deliver tools, processes, and systems that optimize asset lifecycle operating costs while maintaining or improving reliability. This role plays a critical role in supporting Continuous Improvement (CI) and innovation in the department, with emphasis on Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). It offers a broad exposure to all many aspects of Engineering and operational excellence.

Main Responsibilities:

Engineering Technical Leadership

  • Lead and participate in the investigation and solving of major deviations and safety incidents relating to equipment failures.

  • Recommend effective corrective actions, preventive actions and improvements to optimize equipment performance & reliability.

  • Key member of department CI governance.

  • Support department inspection readiness activities as required.

Equipment Reliability

  • Subject matter expert for Asset Life Cycle Management (including process equipment and utilities) to support manufacturing to ensure safety/quality compliance and sustained operation.

  • Support and implement Equipment Reliability strategy that aligns with Amgen's business objectives and operational requirements.

  • Lead/maintain Equipment Criticality Assessment as per business needs and ensure implementation of Reliability Centered Maintenance.

  • Support establishment of criticality of new equipment and facilitate initial creation of FMEA for High and Medium critical assets.

  • Provide criticality and reliability information to support assessments required for long range planning for GLAM program and aging asset management.

  • Provide inputs to support spare parts, equipment repair and maintenance budgeting and management, productivity conceptualisation tied to reliability program.

  • Lead/support implementation of advanced analytics and performance metrics to identify CI opportunities.

  • Lead projects to implement adoption of innovative technologies and methodologies for predictive maintenance and asset health monitoring.

  • Own/manage change controls, work with capital project team closely to implement strategic reliability initiatives as required.

  • Lead/support reliability meetings to provide periodic updates on equipment performance & reliability trends and progress of key reliability initiatives with stakeholders.

  • Owner of metrics related to equipment reliability. Provide trend analysis and insights, propose changes to metrics to enable CI and track progress of meeting reliability goals.

  • Engage with multi-functional team, including Manufacturing, Process Development, Quality and Supply Chain, to ensure the seamless integration and success of the reliability program.

  • Engage network ETA/MOGN and partner closely System Owners to use best practices from AMGEN network.

Finance Management and Business Administration:

  • Coordinate F&E department budgeting process and ensure financial compliance and accurate reporting.

  • Manage operational expense Purchase Requisition creation, Purchase Order approval and on time invoice approvals.

  • Manage and track spare parts and equipment repair/maintenance budget spending to identify areas for potential improvement for YoY productivity.

What we expect of you

Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree OR

  • Master’s degree and 2 years of Engineering OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of Engineering experience OR

  • Diploma and 8 years of Engineering OR

  • Proven experience and track record of compliance in a highly regulated environment

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and partner in a complex, matrix environment

  • Experience in Pharmaceutical / Biotechnology industries preferred

  • Able to communicate complex technical information with internal and external colleagues of varying organizational levels in both presentation and technical writing forms

  • Strong leadership skills, decision making, problem solving abilities

  • Able to adapt to changing business needs and operational requirements

  • Knowledge and experience in Lean/Six Sigma, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), or other continuous improvement methodology experience (e.g., DMAIC, Value Stream Mapping, Process Mapping, Reliability Centered Maintenance, Mistake-proofing, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, etc.) are desirable skills.

  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written, including executive presentation skills

  • Interpersonal and facilitation skills necessary to forge consensus among competing client interests while ensuring objectives are met

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Ability to tactfully negotiate and positively influence peers

  • Strong analytical skills to identify potential improvement opportunities

  • Ability to combine technical problem-solving skills with business sense to determine best business solution
