Amazon Senior Corporate Counsel - Data Center Leasing and Colocation, AWS Legal in Singapore, Singapore

Amazon’s Legal Department is looking for a talented commercial lawyer to fill the position of Senior Corporate Counsel - Data Center Leasing and Colocation. The role will support Amazon Web Services (AWS), a dynamic and rapidly growing business within Amazon.com. AWS is at the forefront of the "cloud" computing and service industry, providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, and more.

You will serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders and will lead legal support for the AWS colocation legal team in APAC, which supports AWS’s worldwide data center expansion through colocation data center leasing, capacity expansion, compliance, and connectivity. You will have excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and an eagerness to work closely with and be a trusted advisor to your business partners. In this role, you will be involved in structuring, drafting and negotiating deals and will provide legal counsel and contract interpretation to business team members on a daily basis. You will also be involved in developing colocation specifications for new infrastructure and services, and will help support AWS’s existing colocation portfolio and manage outside counsel. You will also help develop, implement, and manage process improvements across the team, resolve legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships, and handle pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, enjoy working hard and being challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.

Basic Qualifications

  • A qualified lawyer with at least ten years of post-qualification legal experience (with at least three years at a law firm)

  • Experience drafting and negotiating contracts in English

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team

  • Strong analytical, written and oral communication, and client interaction skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a real estate, banking & finance or technology transactions attorney

  • Experience managing a team

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at once
