Discover Impactful Work:

We develop the next generation microarray platform.

A day in the Life:

  • Work with the chemistry lead on the chemical scale-up workstream of a new generation of microarray manufacturing technology.

  • Work with multiple teams to develop, transfer, improve and implement new generation of microarray chemistry and relevant processes, and relevant IQA, IPQC and OQC tests.

  • Conduct DOE for new process/product/QC test R&D verification and validation.

  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to clearly define the requirements, specification that are needed to design and develop the next generation microarray chemistry.

  • Guide junior chemists to perform experiments requiring a high degree of technical understanding in one or more of the following R&D areas: polymer chemistry, analytical chemistry, and surface chemistry.

  • Work with development teams & lead to design experimental plans, perform studies and analyze and communicate results and their impact on the project through written reports, presentations and interactive discussions.

  • Identify and solve process-related issue in a timely manner.

  • Plan schedule and provide guidance on preventive maintenance and basic trouble-shooting of R&D tools and test equipment, and ensure they are properly calibrated.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • Master or PhD degree in chemistry or materials science, international training is plus.

Experience

  • Have 5-7 years of relevant experience for Master degree holders, or 3-6 years for PhD degree holders.

  • Possess a good knowledge of process chemistry and experience in industrial Research and Development, or product development

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in working with scale-up facilities (e.g. 5-20 L reactor, filtration) or pilot plant.

  • Demonstrated experience in chemical analytical methods, such as GC, HPLC and LC-MS.

  • Familiar with methods to identify problems and provide solutions such as Design of Experiment, Root Cause Analysis and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis.

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team with people from all levels across the organization.

  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

Chemical laboratory and ISO6 clean room environment.
