Manager, Sales Operations (Commercial Effectiveness Manager)

The Commercial Effectiveness Manager will be part of an innovative team, and help us make significant contributions to the world by bringing our mission statement to enable our customers make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.

You play a meaningful role in the development and execution of commercial initiatives in the areas of policy, process optimization and sales force effectiveness/Efficiency. Working with the Asia-Pacific Japan commercial management team, this role will focus on improve efficiency and standardizing business process for the commercial organization from Lead management to Cash. You will be surrounded by collaborative colleagues and work in partnership with commercial leaders, product managers, marketing team, and global commercial team to develop and deliver innovative and engaging programs to improve and enable sales force effectiveness.

How will you make an impact:

The Commercial Effectiveness Manager will play a critical role in developing, implementing and improving the systems and processes which drive continued profitable growth in the region.

By refining new tools available to the region, our sales competence will be enhanced through ongoing learning and development programs.

What will you do:

  • Working alongside the regional Laboratory Products Commercial Management team and with colleagues in the US and Europe you will deploy global improvement opportunities into the Asia Pacific Japan region

  • Establish processes, methodology and governance to effectively lead sales force effectiveness(SFE), sales force automation and training

  • Work with established platforms such as salesforce.com, PowerBI and the Microsoft O365 suite; including Yammer, Stream, PowerApps as well as 3rd party and in-house tools; integrate CRM to drive SFE programs that support sales strategy

  • Employ and adopt PPI (Practical Process Improvement) to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the LPD selling organization

  • Work closely with other functional areas within Thermo Fisher Scientific to collaborate, garner support and partner in the execution of initiatives i.e. Marketing, Product Management, Operations and Finance

  • Key player in running business process changes working with cross functional teams

  • Develop a process for handling independent channel partners to ensure a mutually beneficial business relationship in which goals are communicated and targets exceeded

How will you get here:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific field and/or equivalent experience in a commercial excellence or sales operations within an organization

  • 5+ years of experience in sales, marketing or sales operations functions

  • 5+ years of hands on experience with software tools including, but not limited to CRM systems (salesforce.com), relational databases(SQL) and business intelligence software tools (Tableau, Power BI)

  • Experience in sales of life science products is desired

  • Experience with both direct and distribution selling environments is desired

  • Experience with coordinating sales training enablement programs a plus

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Requires an understanding of standard business practices related to sales operations processes and systems (sales cycle, sales methodology, CRM applications, reporting, forecasting, territory management and sales quotas)

  • Comfortable working with large data sets and can identify key underlying themes

  • Ability to deploy creative solutions

  • Outstanding planning and analytical skills with shown ability to identify/define business questions and issues, synthesize information from multiple sources, conduct analysis, formulate actionable recommendations and recommend a point-of-view to senior management

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to work autonomously and be self-directed when required

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management, the sales force and customers.

  • Strong project management skills, with proven track record to lead multiple tasks concurrently under aggressive timelines in a dynamic environment while maintaining strong attention to detail and quick recall
