MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE
This role reports directly to Area Financial Controller – Asia Pacific and is a key member of the Affiliate Leadership Team with the primary responsibility of supporting the Division’s goals and objectives by providing financial counsel to the General Manager – Southeast Asia and General Manager – Korea. Financial planning and analysis of country’s/ region’s performance driver, growth opportunities and challenges. Financial reporting and analysis, general accounting, internal controls, asset management and risk management.
Responsibilities
Manage the development and execution of the financial plan(s) for Affiliate(s) Commercial Operations for all Plan, Latest Best Estimates and Organic Execution Plan (“OEM”)
Establish, develop and implement appropriate procedures to ensure that the planning process provides an efficient and effective tool for Affiliate’s Leadership team
Develop and orchestrate the planning timeline, calendar, and process working closely with Affiliate/Area Finance team(s); as well as the Affiliate/Area Leadership team(s) to ensure adequate review and consensus
Review monthly performance analysis and report results to Affiliate Leadership team(s). Collaborate with other functions on monthly sales demand forecasting and LBE slide preparation
Manage and coordinate with Affiliate Leadership team for the comprehensive preparation of the presentation and related backup/analysis to Area Leadership that includes the assessment of all data and assumptions used in the planning development for reasonableness and the degree of achievability of these forecasts
Develop and provide analysis to explain/ comment on full year variances, trend/pattern analysis
Provide financial expertise in evaluating and identifying the key issues and gaps in business performance and emerging business needs, deliver analyses that provides a foundation for management understanding and action (e.g., impact of new product launches, asset management and instrument profitability)
Provide financial models, analysis and support for commercial strategies e.g. product launches including pricing strategy and profitability for existing and new promotional programs
Improve the financial understanding of the key nonfinancial management staff
Responsible for the maintenance and integrity of the P&L, Headcount, and Investment data for all Plan and LBEs.
Provide oversight and controls for the monthly accounting close process, including appropriate expense accruals plus review of actuals versus plan to ensure completeness and accuracy of monthly financial information
Provide oversight on Budget Control of the Affiliate(s) through:
Review Free of Charge products, inventory write offs and Trade discount programs actual expenditures vs benchmark for budget analysis. Address significant variances with sales team
Review monthly departmental expense tracking for actuals vs Plan/LBEs benchmark to assure compliance with budget.
Review monthly sample detail report
Work closely with the Demand Planner/Planning Manager to ensure alignment of forecast volumes
Responsible for ensuring monthly financial forecasts are accurate according to Performance Assessment benchmarks
Work with GM to review actual financial performance against plan/LBEs to educate and identify trends as well as future risks and opportunities to our business plans
Understands the ongoing risks and opportunities for the business; actively taking steps to mitigate risks and accelerate opportunities jointly with Affiliate/Area Leadership team(s)
Understand the daily sales trend for the affiliate and ensure steps are taken to address gaps with sales team
Provide financial review over ADC commitments and expenditures to ensure compliance with Abbott Corporate accounting policies and procedures
Responsible for addressing OEC issues, concerns for the ADC affiliate with GM
Ad-hoc process improvement projects both within country/region/Finance function
Requirements
BS or BA in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
Minimum 6 years financial analysis experience; and working experience in supporting regional AsiaPac or South East Asia markets
Financial experience in a healthcare industry will be advantageous
Ability to plan, implement, and administer financial information and control systems
Knowledge of the principles, processes and standards for integrated financial analysis and reporting
Highly proficient in Excel
Experience with SAP, Dodeca, Hyperion, Essbase will be advantageous
