Job Title: Assistant Manager, Strategic Planning

How You Will Make a Difference

What you will do:

  • Lead strategic planning activities for all Direct Source materials from long-term strategic planning (multi-horizon plan) to (pre-/in-) seasonal planning process and material preposition strategies. You will contribute with the development of the raw material sourcing strategy, supplier capacity plan and drive the seasonal supply planning process in order to maximize product availability.

  • Utilize the relationship building and strong analytical skill sets to drive decision making that ensures processes are integrated and aligned across all regions.

  • Lead and develop your direct reports under the guidance of VF Guiding Principles. Embrace and foster One VF culture in every interaction with your direct reports, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Ensure execution of GMS strategy to meet brand requirements by translating their needs and future trends into supplier facing capability requirements.

  • Understand demand forecasts, Brand/regional business requirement and co-lead the creation of raw material sourcing strategy through the multi-horizon plans which are drawn up to achieve long-term Brand revenue targets and growth expectations

  • Develop, evolve, and implement supplier management tools to ensure achievement of GMS strategy, goals, and objectives.

  • Co-lead the design and execution of material preposition initiatives to enable On-Time Performance

  • Understand brand requirements, Global Ops, Planning and Product Supply strategies and priorities and able to translate those into Global Material Supply & supplier specific requirements.

  • Build strategic relationships with key stakeholders covering Brand/Regional Operations, Asia Product Supply, Global Planning and key suppliers to ensure raw materials are delivered at the right place, on time, at the right cost.

  • Act as process owner for all GMS policies and procedures impacting Global Product Supply, drive policy changes with key stakeholders, including Product Supply, Global Planning and RO’s to ensure proper implementation.

  • Be a driver for initiatives that enable higher agility within the sourcing organization and continuously advance the global supply planning processes, analytical framework and allocation approach to support agility and market needs.

  • Ensure that the strategy framework reflects actions, timelines, and responsibilities from a supply base perspective to enable proper implementation.

  • Constantly evolve the GMS strategy framework and communication tools (content and mean of communication) in accordance with changing priorities and brand(s) requirements to ensure that the framework is well understood throughout the organization.

  • Collaborate with Global Planning and Product Supply department to accomplish KPI’s On-Time Performance, Buy Acceptance Rates, and support Quality, CSR, and other relevant Brand needs.

  • Prepare analytical reports / presentations to help illustrate future demand trends, opportunity or risk to senior management and business teams.

  • Analyze organizational performance (e.g., Supplier Key Performance Indicators, business operations & efficiency), forecast operational risks, and work within the Global Material Supply organization and other global functions on issue resolution.

  • Recruit and maintain best in class team to meet or exceed business performance expectations. Foster an environment of empowerment and passion where trust, creativity, innovation and openness can thrive.

  • Provide strategic leadership and mentoring to team members, maximize their development and drive clear succession plans.

  • Collaborate with production planning team to identify materials supply chain dynamic risk (such as T2 supply disruption, financial stability) and provide risk assessment analysis and mitigation plans to all stakeholders.

  • Support production planning team on reporting potential delays and exception delays, exploring solutions in conjunction with GMS regional development team, Brand PS and costing, etc.

  • Partner with GMS regional development team on building comprehensive supplier capability matrix (performance + potential), providing 360 degrees supply profile to support sourcing strategy creation and supplier selection.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements

  • Data visualization software (Tableau, PowerBI, etc.) experience

  • Data analytics/exploration software (Alteryx, Knime etc.) experience

  • Understanding the supply chain processes with experience in forecasting and S&OP

Years of related professional experience: 5 years

Educational position requirements: A formal education and subsequent undergraduate/graduate degrees are nice to have, but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements.

What we expect you already know:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience

  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience

  • Advanced English proficiency
