A Continuous Improvement (CI) Coordinator job in Simi Valley, California is available at Milgard Windows and Doors. This is a great opportunity for a recent college graduate or someone with a strong data management background (specifically excel savvy) who is looking to grow their career within Continuous Improvement / lean manufacturing / project management. Data management is a critical function in this role; with tactful communication coming from the CI Coordinator regarding metrics within production, quality, and CI. Having a working knowledge of excel; specifically, the ability to write formulas, create graphs, manipulate data within pivot charts will be essential.

In this position, you will assist in managing the implementation of CI methods such as 5S, TPM, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, 8-D Problem Solving, and Value Analysis to drive out waste and improve productivity. You will work closely with the CI Supervisor on improvement projects.

Continuous Improvement (CI) Coordinator job responsibilities include:

  • Communicate daily/weekly/monthly progress reports to the plant to effectively narrow focus and drive effective action between departments where necessary

  • You will assist in managing all facility improvement projects, and implementation of CI methods such as TPM, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, and 5S to drive out waste and improve productivity.

  • Monitor and communicate out sustainment of all improvement projects regarding KPI achievement and cultural alignment

  • Help run events and provide training as needed. This will include helping to foster the professional development of facility Leads, Supervisors, and Managers by being a leading, proactive change agent that drives a CI culture.

  • Help to facilitate the management team to identify and develop annual improvement plans consistent with and in support of the strategic plan and business operating plan. Support the C.I. Supervisor by helping to identify goals for CI events and potential quantifiable savings

  • Help develops training materials and effectively deliver those materials in a team environment to ensure employees throughout the facility are trained in CI concepts and philosophy.

  • Participate in CI events and teams; with expectations to develop into a Kaizen facilitator

  • Resolve implementation issues, creating and managing implementation communication processes, and ensuring consistency of implemented processes and programs throughout the facility.

  • Work with project leaders and project Chairs to eliminate barriers. Raise awareness if/when needed.

  • Support motivating, coaching, and developing people in various departments.



  • Computer skills are essential; specifically, within Excel; creating charts, writing formulas, pivot charts, etc.

  • Prior cross-functional team facilitation experience preferred.

  • Strong background in problem-solving, planning, and organization.

  • College Degree preferred but may be substituted by relevant work experience.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents

  • Must have proven employee development and team-building skills.

  • Must have the ability to move and lift materials and products weighing up to 40 lbs. as needed

  • Green belt within 6-sigma is preferred
