Trinity Health Respiratory Therapist I - Registered, PT-24hrs in Silver Spring, Maryland

General Summary:

Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care to specified group of patients. Collaborates with physicians, medical professionals and other staff, to ensure quality of care given. Provides care for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient, as defined in unit scope of care. Utilizes knowledge of principles of growth and development appropriate to patient age, to ensure that care provided meets unique, physical and psycho-social needs of patient. Involves appropriate parties (i.e. family or guardian, and outside agencies) in assessment, treatment and continuing care of patient, as needed. Works independently in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (minimum of four hundred hours per year in NICU). Acts as clinical preceptor for new therapists. Serves on hospital committees, as assigned by department management, as needed. Provides educational presentations on current practices and concepts to department at least twice per year, as needed. Supports Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Health.

Minimum Licensure & Certification Required (if applicable):

  1. Registry with National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).

  2. Current license from Maryland Board of Physicians as Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP).

  3. Current BLS Healthcare Provider certification from American Heart Association.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  1. Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience.

  2. Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in neonatal intensive care, or trained by Holy Cross Health NICU therapist and signed off on NICU competencies.

  3. Able to demonstrate good ability to communicate using English language in written and verbal fashion, promoting team approach to patient care.

  4. Visual acuity at all ranges, corrected or uncorrected.

  5. Normal hearing range, corrected or uncorrected.

Reporting Relationship: Supervision provided by the manager of Respiratory Care Department and the Medical Director.May be assigned the duties of charge therapist in the absence of the manager.
