Social & Scientific Systems (S-3) Education Network Coordinator in Silver Spring, Maryland

Seeking a TBI Education Network Coordinator in Silver Spring, Maryland. In coordination with designated government leads, s/he will work with all TBICOE Network Sites in the execution of government guidance through Network Regional Education Coordinators (RECs).

This position is contingent upon contract award

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of community education and outreach techniques.

  • Basic TBI clinical and policy issues.

  • Excellent communication skills to include writing skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally (i.e. able to speak in public) and in writing.

  • Interpersonal skills a must.

  • Understanding of DoD and VA clinical networks to identify access points for training and education required.

  • Must be able to mentor subordinates.

  • Ability to manage conflict, build rapport and navigate complex situations leading to a positive outcome required.

  • S/he must adhere to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Works collaboratively with education government leadership and the network coordinator to identify sites and develop relationships to support TBI education needs within DHA markets that align with designated REC regions.

  • Works collaboratively with education government leadership and the network coordinator to identify strategic sites within the REC regions and develop relationships to support TBI education needs.

  • Works directly with the RECs to coordinate TBI education efforts, with a primary focus on provider training, across the network.

  • Assists the government leads to establish standards of performance and metrics. Aggregates data to support computation and analysis of the metrics. Conducts analysis, compiles and presents the metrics to the government leads. Formulates and tracks plans (with milestones) to improve provider education throughout the MHS.

  • Reviews and develops standard operating procedures (SOPs) pertaining to outreach, beneficiary education, TBICOE product promotion and dissemination and other REC-related tasks on an annual basis and updates same as needed.

  • Utilizes appropriate lines of authority for approval of education activities.

  • Demonstrates accountability for practice through planned and continuous professional growth.

  • Demonstrates sensitivity to diverse populations and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • In coordination with government leads, works with RECs to plan local, regional and/or national training events. Provides guidance and outreach to VA, DoD and civilian populations (healthcare provide

  • rs, service members, veterans, family members and caregivers) related to TBI.

  • Creates and maintains a core set of information materials related to TBI (to include TBICOE products, training slides and Clinical Recommendations/Clinical Support Tools) that will be used by RECs in the conduct of their duties.

  • Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Master’s Degree in education or healthcare field required.

  • Minimum Experience: Minimum of 4-6 years of experience working with DoD/VA/community providers, patients and families with issues pertaining to TBI education and training.

  • Experience in the care of patients with TBI (inpatient, outpatient, or rehabilitation settings). TBICOE/DHA background in TBI preferred.

  • Required Licenses: CBIS preferred

  • Physical Capabilities: Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time.

  • Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls:

  • Work Environment: Office and clinical environment.

  • Must be available to travel locally, regionally and nationally.

  • The work location is remote contingent on clients need.
