Here’s the Gist

Wolfspeed is seeking an environmental health and safety (EHS) Specialist to facilitate health and safety programs at the NC facilities.  The EHS Specialist will support Wolfspeed's EHS “Strategic Focus” and our “EHS Foundation and Pillars” and is directly responsible for activities related to ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. This position works closely with internal business partners to find effective, efficient solutions to safety and health program implementation.

The Day to Day:

  • Drive continuous improvement in the Wolfspeed “Protect the Pack” safety culture and long term strategy.
  • Develop and implement aligned Environmental Health & Safety programs, procedures, associated training, and guidance documents.
  • Uses EHS software to help identify risk and near misses, managing incidents from start to finish and identify their root causes so corrective action plans can prevent reoccurrence.
  • Support department / business unit Implementation environmental health and safety programs (serve as EHS Point-of-Contact)  
  • Collaborate with business units and EHS team to institute controls and remedial measures for hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions and equipment.
  • Works with local teams to ensure the electrical safety and hazardous energy control programs (Lockout/tagout) are implemented.
  • Works with EHS team members to support ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 implementation.
  • Coordinate, review and monitor non-routine work activities that have the potential to adversely impact operations, the environment, or health & safety.
  • Ensures pre-task plans address workplace hazards.
  • Supports and/or performs Job Hazards Analysis (JHA) in order to identify the steps, hazards and actions to address hazards.
  • Conducts safety inspections, assessments, and audits to identify safety compliance or conformance issues.
  • Conducts tool and equipment commissioning safety checks.
  • Participates in 5S factory walkthroughs to identify and correct EHS issues.
  • Maintains required records for safety training, safety inspections, and other EHS tasks.

This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements):

  • Broad familiarity with hazards associated with industrial and process chemicals, chemical operations, and chemical distribution systems. 
  • Broad familiarity with High Hazard Prevention Programs
  • Experience conducting incident evaluations to identify root cause (structured problem solving).
  • Experience delivering Safety Training, documenting completion and possessing the ability to resonate confidence in the trained that the training materials are well understood.
  • Associate degree or equivalent credentials in safety, health, or the environment (SH&E).
  • Fluency in the English Language with good written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and detail-oriented individual.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations for General Industry and/or Construction.
  • Experience in the semiconductor manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to effectively interpret federal and state regulations
  • Experience with SharePoint, MS Teams, MS Office
