SEMPCORP Human Resource Manager in Sidney, Ohio

About Us: We are the world's leading producer of lithium-ion battery separators. As we expand our operations to Ohio, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Human Resources Manager to build and lead our local workforce from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity to shape the HR function at a brand-new manufacturing operation, set to employ between 300 to 400 people in its initial phase with significant room to grow.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Workforce Planning and Recruitment:

    • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract a skilled workforce.
    • Manage the entire recruitment process, including job postings, interviews, and selection.
    • Partner with local employment agencies, colleges, and other recruitment sources.
  • Onboarding and Training:

    • Design and conduct comprehensive onboarding programs for new hires.
    • Identify training needs and coordinate ongoing training and development programs.
    • Ensure all employees are well-versed in company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Payroll and Benefits Administration:

    • Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local regulations.
    • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries and issues.
  • Employee Relations:

    • Foster a positive and productive work environment through effective employee relations strategies.
    • Address employee concerns, conflicts, and grievances in a timely and fair manner.
    • Implement and uphold company policies and procedures.
  • HR Policies and Compliance:

    • Develop and enforce HR policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR best practices and legal requirements.
    • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Performance Management:

    • Implement performance management systems to evaluate employee performance and provide feedback.
    • Develop and execute employee recognition and reward programs.
    • Support managers in addressing performance issues and implementing improvement plans.
  • HR Systems and Reporting:

    • Establish and maintain HR systems and records.
    • Generate regular HR reports and metrics to inform decision-making.
    • Continuously improve HR processes and systems for efficiency and effectiveness.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of HR management experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of building and managing HR functions in a start-up or rapidly growing company.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment laws.
  • Strong experience in recruitment, employee relations, payroll, benefits administration, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with the local labor market and community resources in Ohio is a plus.
