Copeland Advanced Manufacturing Project Engineer in Sidney, Ohio

As an Advanced Manufacturing Project Engineer, you will require a pioneering talent to create manufacturing processes for new global products. Based in our Sidney, OH location, you will be a team member on the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team, focused primarily developing new manufacturing processes and equipment to support a global HVAC compressor platform. In this position you will work closely with the product planning, design engineering, procurement, and operations to coordinate design features that will enable low cost, high quality, and reliable manufacturing of a new global product. This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious, process-oriented person and be a core member of the New Product Development team.

AS AN ADVANCED MANUFACTURING PROJECT ENGINEER, YOU WILL:

• Drive the development of manufacturing processes by making data driven decisions to drive how future products will be designed

• Enable the development and implementation of process and equipment installations, including design, justification, and procurement

• Develop build, quality, and manufacturing specifications

• Collaborate with product development groups to address industry trends and leverage design for manufacturing expertise to ensure all aspects of safety, quality, and performance are achieved

• Work closely with the design engineering team to incorporate features for low-cost, high-quality products and processes

• Work with cross-functional teams to address current manufacturing challenges across multiple product lines

• Work with third party manufacturers to create prototype components, new equipment, and processes

• Specify capital equipment required to execute the manufacturing plan

• Ensure all production related technologies, equipment, and processes meet all safety requirements in accordance with applicable industry standards

• Drive continuous improvement by utilizing lean principles that are aligned with manufacturing and automation strategies

• Serve as the technical expert for assigned manufacturing process responsibilities.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related manufacturing technical degree

• At least one (1) year of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience (co-op experience will be considered)

• Good organizational, project management, presentation, and collaboration skills

• Ability to recognize and solve simple and complex problems in manufacturing system design

• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced engineering environment

• Experience with equipment and process layouts

• Understanding of Design For Manufacturing and Automation

• Understanding of lean manufacturing principles

• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office programs

• Ability to travel up to 15-20% of the time including some international travel

• Legal Authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Two to Five (2 to 5) years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience

• Experience with lean manufacturing principles

• Experience with Design For Manufacturing and Automation

• Experience in Machine Design

• Understanding of PLC programming & FANUC robot controls

• Experience with 3D CAD software (NX, SolidWorks)

• Proficient in performing manufacturing PFMEA
