UPMC Lead LPN, York Southern Family Medicine in Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania

UPMC's Southern Family Medicine in Shrewsbury, PA is looking to add a Lead LPN to their busy 6 provider practice. This office provides comprehensive, continuing care as well as treatment for acute illness and chronic conditions for the entire family, from infants to the elderly. As the Lead LPN, this nurse must have a minimum of 3 years' nursing experience. We prefer the LPN be well versed in all clinical areas of the office to be able to assist staff and providers at any time. The Lead LPN will have some administrative duties in addition to clinical duties.

Hours: Monday-Friday primarily between the hours of 7am-5pm. 8-hour shifts only, start and stop times could change depending on the day (i.e. 7am-3:30pm, 7:30am-4pm, 8am-4:30pm, or 8:30am-5pm). NO LATE EVENINGS. NO WEEKENDS. NO MAJOR HOLIDAYS

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide input for LPN/MA performance review and conducts review in conjunction with the clinical coordinator.

  • Represent the concerns/issues of the clinic flow staff.

  • Provide input for hiring decisions.

  • Ensure proper staffing of the clinic at all times.

  • Assign clinic staff to support the physicians and physician extenders on a daily basis.

  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.

  • Work with the clinical manager on resolution of clinic issues.

  • Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed and prescribed, etc., in the medical record.

  • Order all clinical supplies.

  • Phlebotomy and endocrine testing as ordered.

  • Maintain Strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.

  • Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).

  • Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM under the direction of an RN.

  • Perform IV therapy under direction of Registered Nurse.

  • Administer IV fluids under the direction of an RN.

  • Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.

  • Minimum of 3 years clinical experience required.

  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory ability.

  • Must be able to perform all duties of a Licensed Practical Nurse in the unit.

  • Must have in-depth knowledge of department and system-wide policies and procedures in order to function as a resource to others.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

  • Act 33 with renewal

  • Act 34 with renewal
