Arizona Employer Patient Registrar Senior- Full Time - Day Shift in Show Low, Arizona

Registers patients for procedures within the hospital and other Summit Healthcare facilities; attains demographic and insurance/benefit information; and provides financial services for all patients. Serves as the senior member of the inpatient registration team.
Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities:
Coordinates training and personnel development of patient registrars (outpatient)
Develops, maintains, updates, and distributes unit desk manuals
Works Relay reports as assigned
Works Athena walk in order buckets verify authorizations
Serves as a Relay Super User
Responsible for gathering patient demographic data
Copies IDs and insurance cards
Refers patients to vendor for private pay
Registers/pre-registers patients
Verifies insurance via verification tool.
Obtains benefits
Refers patients to financial counselor.
Collects patient portion of fees.
Admits and discharges patients.
Participates in departmental and hospital-wide informational meetings and inservices, including staff meetings, hospital-wide forums, and seminars.
Displays proper etiquette and mannerisms that reflect the SHINE Behavior Standards.
Promotes the Patient Safety Standards as a core value of the organization.
Secondary Functions:
Performs the duties of the Patient Registrar in the assigned unit.
Cross trains in other Patient Registration areas: ER, outpatient, and inpatient registration, centralized scheduling, and prior authorizations/verifications.
Reviews department and hospital-wide policies and procedures annually.
All other duties as assigned.

Specific Job Skills & Mental Activities:
This position requires operational knowledge of all equipment in the Admitting Departments, including: fax, printer, copy machine, phone systems, and all computer programs required to retrieve information. This employee must be service oriented and have excellent customer service skills, computer skills, organizational skills, multitasking skills, professional interpersonal skills, time management skills, the ability to prioritize work, and telephone etiquette. This employee must be familiar with EMTALA, insurance plans, and abide by all HIPAA
