CORE VALUES: Passion for Excellence :: Success is Never Final :: Do the Right Thing :: One Alerus ABOUT THE ROLE: This position within the Special Credit Services team supports the SCS officers and is responsible for credit underwriting and portfolio management of the credits managed by this team. The analyst will primarily prepare and present special asset credit reports, including gathering, analyzing and interpreting all types of credit information and will partner with the SCS officer on workout strategies. The position will also compile and prepare management reporting as to past due loans, non-accruals and charge off recommendations. The analyst will also have the opportunity to manage a portfolio of diverse credit types and structures. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: Preparing quarterly special asset reports. Underwriting credit actions for SCS Officers including providing analysis and rational for risk rating changes as well as non-accrual and charge off recommendations. Partnering with the SCS Officer in the development of workout plans. Managing a portfolio of credits as assigned under the supervision of a SCS Officer. Maintaining a proficient knowledge of applicable banking rules and regulations as well as bankruptcy, foreclosure, and collection law. Supporting SCS Officers in engaging legal, real estate brokers, auctioneers and other third parties to collect, liquidate, foreclose and repossess assets as necessary. Supporting internal and external audits or examinations of the assigned portfolio. WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE: 2+ years of underwriting or portfolio management experience preferred. Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required. Ability to perform in depth commercial financial statement analysis. Experience working with SBA 7a and 504 loans preferred. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, including ability to present to decision makers and customers in a professional and confident manner. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office utilizing proper ergonomic safeguards when doing so.
