POSITION TITLE:MRO Buyer**
REPORTS TO:Controller
**POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Materials Manager, is responsible for overseeing the approval and control of the purchasing function of LPI-I. Investigates all new developments relative to material and supplies and makes recommendations designed to reduce cost and improve quality.
**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Reviews and establishes purchase requisitions.
Establishes and approves sources maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) supplies.
Receives quotations and secures bids.
Supervises the negotiations of purchase contracts, follow up, scheduling, and expediting of deliveries.
Supervises control on receipt and acknowledgment of materials and supplies and the maintenance of purchasing records.
Prepares the buyer's manual to facilitate standard procurement practices.
Cooperates with production, research, engineering, and other departments in the development of equipment and product specifications and substitute materials.
Cooperates with other departments to ensure a smooth flow of materials.
Arranges for the sale of scrap, obsolete surplus materials, and by-products.
Responsible for inventory control and warehouse operations for the Tool Crib.
Recommends departmental policies, procedures, and programs.
Reviews and processes claims against suppliers for unsatisfactory materials or equipment.
Actively participates in continuous improvement activities that support improved delivery to LPII customers.
Assists with the implementation of the EMS / ISO 14001 program. Notably universal waste and shipment of waste assigned, and the crib.
Performs other essential functions as assigned.
**JOB QUALIFACTIONS REQUIREMENTS:
College degree or the equivalent experience, must have experience in MRO Purchasing with an automotive supplier, be computer literate, and have excellent supervisory and interpersonal skills.
**SPECIAL SKILLS:
Computer literate, Microsoft, Pansophic, AS400
**MAJOR PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employee must be able to sit, stand, walk, talk, listen, reach, use arms and hands, and exert up to 25 pounds of force as needed.
**WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office environment. May encounter possible hazards from loud noises, operating machines, inhaling dust and fumes, and outdoor weather.
