Boehringer Ingelheim Product Communication Manager | Staff or Non-line Manager | HP Product Comms Gr, CA in Shinagawa, Japan

Role Purpose:

  1. As a professional and reliable business partner, contribute to maximizing product value through planning and executing communication initiatives/activities in line with the product brand's strategy.

  2. Proactively gather information and collaborate with internal stakeholders to gain a thorough understanding of TA (therapeutic area) strategies and activities then incorporate them into the communication plan to maximize communication opportunities.

  3. Aim to position Boehringer Ingelheim as a company with values and a distinctive profile against our major target groups, media, general public, patients, job seekers, specialized audiences (doctors, pharmacists, competitors), and our employees.

  4. Strengthen the company reputation in accordance with Boehringer Ingelheim’s key statement and timely key topics/projects externally and internally though various related projects and initiatives.

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Lead development and implementation of product communication strategy for assigned TA (Therapeutic area)

  • As a single point of contact responsible for product communication on assigned TAs, collaborate closely with a brand team to plan and execute product communication strategy

  • Establish appropriate recognition of launched products, pipeline compounds and focus diseases externally through communications channels.

  • Ensure penetration of key messages and proper information via press activities (press releases, press conferences/seminars/interviews and media outreach).

  • Manage issues related to safety and security matters to protect company reputation by planning and implementing appropriate communication plans.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with media/journalists.

  • Ensure Boehringer Ingelheim is regarded as a “Life forward” company and timely disseminate key topics/projects through communication channels.

  • Establish the best media mix to provide reliable information in a timely and efficient manner needed by external stakeholders & employees.

  • Develop message and stories appealing to defined stakeholders to create desirable perception about Boehringer Ingelheim.

Qualifications:


  • Strong track records in Product Communication in pharmaceutical industry

  • 3+ years of successful track record in

  • Pharmaceutical product communication

  • TA (therapeutic area) communication

  • Disease awareness campaign

  • Agency management

  • Crisis communications

  • Direct hands-on experience in Media Relations

  • 3+ years of successful track record in Press release creation, press interview, press conference / seminar, and communications plan creation

  • Strong Project Management Skill

  • Track record in successfully leading cross-functional projects, involving multiple stakeholders into successful outcomes

  • Critical thinker with ability to self-manage workload, including reprioritizing and delivery under tight timelines.

  • Multiple task management and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to bring project management tools into play for problem solving & risk management

  • Communications mindset that can think about the company from an external perspective and with a broad objective viewpoint.

  • The ability to create sentences that use different words depending on the target audience and situation.

  • Open minded, team player, flexible and willingness to adapt in a changing environment.

  • Ability to work well under pressure / influence without authority, good interpersonal and negotiation skills.


  • Experience in leading complex cross-functional projects and in working with senior management.

  • Experience in social media management and strategy planning.
