JOB SUMMARY

As a Mammography Technologist at Sheridan Memorial Hospital, you will play a vital role in our commitment to providing accurate and compassionate breast imaging services while maintaining a patient-centered approach. Your responsibilities will include performing mammography procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform mammography imaging procedures according to established protocols and physician orders, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process.
Obtain patient medical history, prior imaging of breasts along with reports and verify patient identification and consent prior to performing procedures.
Position patients correctly and operate mammography equipment to obtain high-quality images of breast tissue.
Monitor patients during imaging procedures and address any concerns or discomfort.
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of procedures performed. Including required records to maintain FDA certification.
Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to review and interpret imaging results.
Adhere to all regulatory guidelines and safety protocols to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
Maintain and perform QA on mammography equipment to ensure optimal performance and quality control.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures.
Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population.
Participate in continuous education and training to stay current with advancements in breast imaging technology and best practices.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education / Experience / License and Certifications
Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology, either college affiliated or hospital trained.
Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Certified by the State of Wyoming to practice and administer radiation.
Current BLS certification, required.
Department Specific Education / Experience / License and Certifications
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
Attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Additional Skills
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
Additional languages preferred.
Basic computer knowledge.
Working knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
Knowledge of general anatomy and physiology
Specific demands not listed: Possible exposure to blood and or body fluids / infectious disease / hazardous waste requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Exposure to odorous chemicals / specimens and Latex products.
