Summary

The successful candidate will be trained to operate as a multi-skilled, adaptable Composite Laminator. After the completion of the training the composite Laminator will be responsible for kitting, layup, bagging and de-bagging of the component. The successful candidate should be able to work to complex engineering drawings and with moulds to produce high precision composite components.

Responsibilities

Full training to be provided in order to be able to:

  • Carry out Tool preparation (Clean and apply Release Agent).

  • Kitting and lay-up operations, (Cutting kit of materials for build sequence, Warp and Weft. Lay up material on to mould surface correct orientation and build sequence).

  • Understanding of Shelf Life of Materials would be an advantage.

  • Vacuum bagging techniques (Manufacture breather bag material kit).

  • Cure operations to agreed engineering methods and processes using various plant and process equipment (Autoclaves, Ovens and Vacuum pumps).

  • Support and conform to Quality procedures to maintain compliance, by ensuring adherence to the defined processes and procedures.

  • Operate within all Meggitt and Health and Safety at work Regulations.

  • Attendance of start of shift meeting with team to understand the teams’ targets, any key issues / problems and any other communications (e.g. visits, health & safety issues etc).

  • Detect and escalate any issues to team leaders in timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.

  • Able to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Well-organised, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task.

  • Able to work independently and prioritise duties with minimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to read drawings would be an advantage.

  • Strong prioritisation skills.
