Job Summary:

Campbell Scientific ( Shepshed ) is seeking a skilled Test and Calibration Technician to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the testing, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of various sensors and Campbell Scientific dataloggers returned for calibration or repair.

This is a crucial role that ensures our products meet the high standards our customers expect.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform testing and calibration on a range of meteorological sensors, including temperature/RH probes, barometers, anemometers, and rain gauges.

  • Troubleshoot and repair products and test equipment at the component level.

  • Analyze electronic circuits and interpret schematics, datasheets, and test procedures.

  • Utilize standard bench testing equipment such as Digital Multimeters (DMM), oscilloscopes, function generators, and other electronic test instruments.

  • Conduct high-quality through-hole and surface-mount technology (SMT) rework on densely populated Printed Circuit Assemblies (PCAs).

  • Disassemble, refurbish, and rebuild mechanical assemblies as needed.

  • Think critically to identify, troubleshoot, and solve complex problems.

  • Develop datalogger programs for testing and debugging purposes.

  • Follow detailed written procedures for testing and calibration.

  • Clearly communicate technical information both in writing and verbally, collaborating with other departments and directly with customers.

  • Assist other departments by providing guidance and answering product-related queries.

  • Maintain accurate records of measurements and repair activities.

  • Meet department deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.

  • Work independently with minimal supervision.

Required Technical and Functional Skills:

  • Proficiency in testing and calibration of meteorological sensors.

  • Component-level troubleshooting and repair skills.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret electronic circuits, schematics, datasheets, and test procedures.

  • Competence in using bench testing equipment, including DMMs, oscilloscopes, function generators, and other electronic test tools.

  • Experience in performing precise through-hole and SMT rework.

  • Knowledge of disassembly, refurbishment, and rebuilding of mechanical assemblies.

  • Solid understanding of electronics theory.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking ability.

  • Experience in creating datalogger programs for testing purposes.

  • Ability to follow detailed written procedures with precision.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to keep accurate records and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
