Robert Half Accounts Payable Specialist in Shelton, Connecticut
Position: Accounts Payable Specialist
The accounts payable specialist will be responsible for handling multi-faceted accounting responsibilities, including managing the general ledger and performing accounts payable duties. The candidate will report directly to the Accounting Manager and Controller, among other management members.
Coordination and processing of invoices between various companies post-approval for payment
Managing bank deposits
Coordinate with other offices for the aggregation of weekly vendor invoice batches
Examining invoice batches from branches for approved authorization and general ledger account coding prior to posting in the RCC system
Entry and processing of intercompany invoices and customer refunds
Generation and processing of check payments
Interaction and correspondence with vendors to answer vendor inquiries
Assistance in month-end closing procedures as required
W-9 forms from vendors
Documentation of property taxes on spreadsheets
Maintenance of necessary financial spreadsheets and schedules
Keeping track of monthly/year to date asset purchases and duplicating invoices
Updating sales and use the certificate for locations
Preparation of 1099 tax information
Performing bank reconciliation
Intercompany billing preparation
Performing other bookkeeping and accounts payable duties as necessary.
The ideal candidate is detailed, highly organized, proficient at multitasking, and can effectively prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. At least 3+ years in an accounts payable function, including general ledger responsibilities preferred. Job Type: Full Time, Permanent, Non-exempt ranging from 30-35hr depending on experience with benefits offered- healthcare benefits, 401k with match, profit sharing plan, vacation time and other perks! Spreadsheet and database capabilities
3+ years of experience in an A/P role preferred
Articulate customer service and interpersonal skills, especially when interacting with those at all levels
General Accounting/ General Ledger experience
Highly organized and self-motivated
