Permanent Title I Aide

 

An ESS substitute Title 1 Aide assists the classroom teacher to provide extra support to students with special needs, promoting maximum academic and personal growth. The substitute paraprofessional job responsibilities range from supplementing regular classroom curriculum to helping individual students.

 

Substitute Title 1 Aide are also known as school aides, teacher assistants, instructional aides, one-to-one aides, and personal care assistants.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The following list includes the basic responsibilities of aides involved in the Title I programs.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Preschool:

    1. Reading stories to children and talking to the children about what happened.
    1. Assisting children in activities designed by the reading specialists.
    1. Providing individual help and attention where needed.
    1. Interacting verbally with children on a one-to-one and small group basis.
    1. Assisting the teacher in the production of learning materials and in clerical duties.
  • Non-instructional duties: In accordance with ESEA Title I guidelines if applicable.

Reading:

    1. Correcting pupil work and workbooks noting special areas of weakness to which teacher attention should be directed.
    1. Assisting children in activities such as previously explained paperwork, listening post activities and microcomputer drill.
    1. Providing individual instructional help for the disadvantaged child in the proper use of the library and supplemental reading books.
    1. Reading stories to small groups of children.
    1. Providing reading guidance and aiding the child in the selection of materials which he/she can and will read.
    1. Providing aid to small groups of students in reinforcement activities.
    1. Assisting the teachers in production of learning materials and in clerical duties.
  • Non-instructional duties: In accordance with ESEA Title I guidelines of applicable.

Math:

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree or Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate
  • Physical Demands:
  • Ability to reach above/below the waist
  • Ability to move throughout district buildings
  • Ability to lift and carry updated materials
  • Work Environment:
